On the day I was due to leave, I went to see Samantha to say my goodbyes, much to her dismay of course. I didn't want to leave my best friend. Fear of her finding a new best friend and never speaking to me again was high. Me and my mother left for the train station and managed to get onto platform nine and three quarters with the help from a bunch of red heads.

"Write to me everyday Lillian." Mother spoke hugging me tightly. I tried to pull out of her vice like grip embarrassed that she was being so over protective.

"I will mum. I promise. I promised Samantha as well."I laughed as I picked up my new trunk and borded the train.

I tired to find a place to sit alone, not really wanting to make new friend. I found none, so I looked into the carriages until I found a group of girls about my age sitting together talking. Sighing I slowly opened the door and stood silently for a second.
"Do you mind if I sit here with you. There isn't anywhere else to sit."
"Sure! What's your name? I'm Herminoe Granger, this is Hannah Abbott and Susan Bones. Are you a first year like us?"
I nodded as she sat down." I'm Lillian O'Neal."
"Hi, I'm Hannah." A brightly blonde haired girl smiled. "We were just talking about our Blood-Status. I'm a Half-Blood, Susan is also a Half-Blood and Herminoe is a Muggle-Born. What are you?"
"Um... Half-Blood I think. My mum is a Muggle, but I don't know who my dad is." I explained not really wanting to join in the conversation. I just needed a place to sit.

For the rest of the journey, I stayed quiet. Only speaking when I was asked a question. After the thee girls went to help another first year look for his toad, I sat alone, my own perched beside me. The owl hooted sadly at me.

"Hey girl. I'm fine. Don't worry about me. I just miss my best friend Samantha. She would have loved you, you know. I think she would have had something to say about your name though. Hey Midnight?" The owl hooted back at me.

Just before I got to Hogwarts I changed into the uniform for first years and sat back down. I didn't bother to tie my tie and I left my robes open. Unable to find my school shoes, I just put on my black boots. Once we arrived at Hogwarts, a boy named Draco had told me that I looked like his god-father minus the black eyes and the fact I was a girl. I was sorted into Slytherin and sat beside Draco. Not really caring about the remark he had made earlier that day. After a hefty meal, we where all taken to our common rooms where I first met who Draco told me was his God-Father. The dark man looked around the first years. I noticed that his eyes lingered on me for a brief second before he began to talk.
"Welcome to the house of Slytherin. My name is Severus Snape, I am your head of house. While alone you may call me Severus, just as I will call you by your given name. However outside these walls, you must call me Professor Snape or sir just as I will call you by your surname. As such, I expect all of you to follow the rules of Hogwarts and my own rules which I have strictly placed over the Slytherin house-" I zoned out until the end not bothering to take note of the rules as I never had before. "First years, I expect you all to be up in your room and a sleep no later than half past nine. Every week, I and the prefects will be giving your room an inspection. Any room that is not clean will cause all the occupants of the room to get a detention, no matter who's mess it actually is. Also, every term, I will hold meetings with you to see how you are and if you have any trouble. As it it half past eight, you have an hour to write letters or do what you wish. As long as you do not leave this common room."

So I ventured up to the girls dorm and found my trunk and owl beside the bed closest to the bathroom, finding out my new paper and quill, I began to write my letters home. One for mum and the other for Samantha

Mum,

I got to Hogwarts okay. It's different, I like it and all but I already miss you and Samantha. I don't think I am going to make any friends here. I already feel alone. It's funny because after meeting Samantha you told me I became a social butterfly but I feel as if that is because I had Samantha who had my back mum. I don't like being alone. I haven't made any friends yet. I was sorted into Slytherin house and my head of house doesn't seem to bad. A boy in my year says I look like him, But I don't see it really. Anyway I hope you are okay. I hope to hear from you soon.
