"daddy, you love mommy right?" All of the sudden Zia spoke
"well, ofcourse sweetheart. Why did you asked?"
"I just remembered how mommy looks when she's suddenly being quiet. Like she's been observing everyone. She's acting different I think she's weird but I still love her though"
"what do you mean by different?" that caught my attention
"She's colder. I know she always frown at us, and yelled at you and rarely even smile but mommy look scary sometimes" her observation is amazing and her honesty is quite terrifying, what if Cliff got offended when she heard this?
"are you afraid of her?"
"no. But then I saw some old man one time. They are looking at us and then mom suddenly told us to go home, they're look like those bad guys who do bad things to rich people. I think she saw them too so she wanted to keep us safe" Zia suddenly confess. How come this little girl noticed that and I don't?
"Well mommy loves you its normal for her to be protective if that's how you see things. But, Zia mommy will not always be here for us. So, even when she's gone for good, or not here. Promise me that you'll be a good girl and you will not cry again okay?"
"why would mommy leave daddy?" she said innocently
"you see, your mommy has different responsibilities. And,, baby I know you're smart and you can understand but she's not your real mommy." I know this will break her heart but the sooner she accepts it.. the lesser it will bother Cliff
"I know daddy, but I want her to be my mommy. So, let's make her happy so she will not leave, she will stay with us and protect us because she's so strong" it sounds so sincere and simple coming from her lips
Strong... just how strong can that girl be, and how dangerous..
What she said made me think of Zia's safety in the future
Blood and money stained my hands at the age of 10. That's how I live up until now. I don't care who they are, if I'm paid, I kill.
She knows that when she told me that, I will be conscious of Zia's safety and think of her badly, maybe that's why she agreed to my supposed "routine". To scare me, and eventually leave her..
But I'm more than that Cliff, I hope you can see, even for just a little, that I'm willing to do everything to protect you too, maybe not by my strength but with love. Me and Zia,, we can make you feel human again, with a heart and with someone to love.
