Violet was stood there, wondering why she had let the possibly alcoholic stranger bring her to a party.

She didn't know anyone here and she barely even knew him. He could have been a rapist or a human trafficker but she still was stupid enough to follow him into an unfamiliar frat house. The only thing that was keeping her hair on her head was the music in the background.

Michael on the other hand, glanced and laughed at the girls at the party, knowing he had a ten right beside him. He didn't have to make sex eyes with the girl at the keg with her shirt hanging between her exposed bra and her chin or have to ask if the lost puppy, obviously dragged here by her roommate, needed a refill. He could sit down and laugh at the thirsty and prowling teens around him because he didn't have to worry about getting laid.

''Who's party is this anyway?'' Violet asked over the music.

''My friend Calum, let me take you to him.'' He replied, dragging her along through the sweaty and the few irritatingly sequined, crowd.

Michael took her to the backyard where he knew the boys would be drinking what they called the ''Expensive Shit'' but they all knew it cost about 5 more dollars more than the drinks in there.

''CALUM!'' Michael hollered. a dark haired boy turned around. violet immediately felt jealous, he had the tan she would constantly show to the ladies at the store but somehow, she would always seem to walk out paler than she came in.

"HEY, CLIFFORD!''

They embraced each other in one of those guy half hugs, and Michael turned back to violet, placing his hand on the bottom of her spine. she froze slightly but eased up to it.

''This is Violet.'' Violet smiled awkwardly and waved.

God, violet, why would you wave? can you be any more aw-

Michael cut Violets thoughts off and turned to Luke, who had a proud smile on. ''Wheres Ash?''

''Gone to get a piece of ice cream cake, i quote. ''No twentieth birthday is complete without ice cream cake!''.''

Violet giggled and they turned to her. Since they chose not to say anything she had to try to look like less of a retard.

''No birthday in general is complete without ice cream cake.'' she said mater of factly.

Michael and Luke looked at each other briefly and smiled. ''God, You're so adorable.'' He reached for her cheeks but she swatted his hands away.

''I believe its time to get some of that ice cream cake.'' Calum announced.

They all piled into calums rusty pick up truck that looked like Mater, something Michael had pointed out.

Since there were only two seats, two of them had to go in the back. Violet volunteered to endure the cold in the trunk.

''Ill join her!'' Michael spoke up, spinning round to follow her lead but being pulled back by Luke who disagreed, saying there was no space for him and the front.

''How is this my problem, I'm not the one who put all those stupid bottles in the front seat.'' Michael retorted.

''Can you guys just shut up and both get in the back?''

They both mumbled curses at each other and slid in to the trunk, sitting on the cold metal floor.

''Hey, um, Calum! Can you please turn the radio up?''

''Sí madmoselle.''

Michael scoffed, ''You realize those are two different languages?''

''I mean come on Calum,'' Luke joined in.

Calum asked them to fuck off before increasing the volume of the radio so high he didn't have to hear Luke and Michael.

Violet was left out of the many loops that circulated in the car.

There was Luke and Michael's where they spend their time arguing about how old Ashton is mentally, Michael was going with five but Luke was dead sure he was twelve.

And then there was Calum, who drifted into the music, trying hard to drive as stable as he possibly could even though he only had a swing of two out the bottle but it didn't stop him.

And then there was Violet who felt odd in a car with people who had known each other for possibly years and she had only known them for hours, some minutes. She contemplated slipping through and joining calum in front to enjoy the music but he he seemed a bit busy to acknowledge her

She decided she would try something she always wanted to do, or just something she saw on tumblr, even though it was possibly illegal and they weren't the exact cop pleaser at the time but life was full of moments, this one she decided to put to use because it was probably the on ly time she would be in a truck without her mother who would shoot her head off if she forgot what a seatbelt was. She stood up and gripped the bars on the roof, pulling herself up as gracefully as she could but that wasn't graceful at all, her childhood ballet instructor would have died right there.

She sat on the roof, ignoring absolutely everybody, just holding on to the bars and listening to the music, she heard Luke and Micheal's conversation direct to her but 21 Guns was on and she didn't have to.
