Malia sighed in boredom as she sat at the hufflepuff table. Her chin resting in her hand. All of her friends had to go to they're respective tables for the sorting ceremony, leaving her all alone. Both Arlo and Sebastian went to the slytherin table and Tanner went to the ravenclaw table.
"Hey Malia, mind if I sit here? I don't really feel like sitting alone during the sorting ceremony because of how boring it is." Tanner's little sister asked shyly.
"Of course Elise. you know you don't have to ask" Malia smiles at her.
Elise was really quiet and preferred to keep to herself most of the time, but she knew if she was ever tired of being alone and needed a friend, Malia would be there.
"I was literally thinking the same thing as you before you got here. This ceremony is soo boring." Malia laughed bumping her shoulder with Elise's. "It's nice to have friends in the same house as me. I remember first year, before you came, I was sooo bored at this table and in the common room."
"Yeah it's nice to have someone to talk to when you're super bored"
The two girls continued to talk to each other the rest of the ceremony. Happy to have each others company. But unknowingly, they caught a griffindors eye.
"Hey look, both of your future wives are talking to each other" Remus joked towards James and Sirius.
"Shut up" is the answer he got in return from both of them.
"You two can't even talk to them on your own" Jared laughed at them. Happy now that the feast had began and the sorting ceremony was over.
"Yes we can" James defended.
"Then be my guest" Jared spoke gesturing towards the hufflepuff table.
"Fine" James huffed as he got up and started walking towards the table, catching looks from a lot of people in the room.
"H-hi Malia" James cleared his throat, trying his best not to make a fool out of himself.
"Hey James, what's up?" She smiled at him as she moved over, making room for him to sit down, which he did gladly.
"So, you know I was thinking about what Jared said about you on the train. About you being good at astronomy. I have to take it again this year and I failed it last year. So i was wondering if maybe you could possibly help with it or something" James rambled on, proud of himself for not stuttering.
"Of course James! Just tell me when you have homework in that class and I'll help you!" She smiled even bigger, if that was possible. "oh, have you met Elise?"
"No, but I've heard about her once or twice" he said throwing a quick look at Sirius who was trying to signal to James to talk about him.
"Y-you have" Elise asked worriedly.
"Yeah! You where Sirius' herbology partner third year and you were the only reason he passed that class" James smiled.
"Well I'm glad I could be of help" she smiled, happy that it wasn't anything bad.
"Are you two excited for the quidditch season to start." He questioned.
"Not really, the game kind of confuses me" Elise spoke up shyly.
"I'd be happy to teach you all about it" Malia laughed, "but I am supper excited for it to start I haven't been able to practice all summer." Malia was known throughout the school as one of the best quidditch players there, which is also how James first heard about her.
"I should probably get back to my friends. See you guys later" James quickly spoke after seeing Sebastian walking over.
"Bye" the two replied, both laughing at him scurrying away.
"You didn't have to scare the poor boy" Malia laughed at the fuming Sebastian.
"To hell I didn't, why were you talking to that Gryffindor" He spat, causing Elise to flinch. When he realized this he immediately softened.
"He just wanted me to tutor him in astronomy" Malia replies when her other two friends sat by them
"I guess it's a party at the Hufflepuff table" Arlo joked. Causing the rest to laugh.
"What are you guys talking about" Tanner questioned.
"James Potter" Elise simply replied.
"Oooh, that cute Gryffindor? You should totally go for him" Arlo spoke up.
"He's my brothers friend, that would be weird."
"And he's a Gryffindor" Sebastian scoffed, "plus I wouldn't trust his judgement since he has The Stupid Girlfriend Stealer as a friend"
"Would you get over it, you already broke the blokes nose" Tanner scoffed.
"Should have broken his ribs too while you were at it" Arlo stated simply.
"Well on that note I'm going to unpack" Malia laughed hopping up, "sit at the Ravenclaw table during breakfast?" Everyone nodded in agreement.
