Malia refused to let anything dampen her mood today, for it was her friend's birthday and she had made it her mission to make it one to remember.

Sure, she was curious as to why both of Ethan and Nathan's faces were badly bruised and cut but she just passed it by as karma. Unknown to her, it was two Gryffindors who were pissed off that someone would lay a hand on her.

As she passed people in the hall she received weird looks because of the box she was carrying to the dining hall. As soon as she caught site of all her friends gathered at the ravenclaw table she started skipping over, catching the attention of all her friends.

"Happy birthday Tanner!" She cheered excitedly. "Are you ready for the painting of the year!?" Tanner and Malia had a tradition that every birthday the two would paint each other a picture as a present.

"I was born ready Malia" tanner laughed as he was handed the messily wrapped box. After all the wrapping paper was torn off everyone gasped. "Malia, I think this is my favorite painting yet"

"Really!? Because I was struggling on figuring out what to paint because I wanted it to be perfect

"Really!? Because I was struggling on figuring out what to paint because I wanted it to be perfect. So I was thinking that you always love looking at the stars, but I couldn't just do a painting of the stars because it's kind of boring so I thought about adding the tree and..." Malia's rambling was cut of as she was tackled in a hug.

"It's perfect" Tanner laughed.

"Why don't we have a special birthday tradition, Seb. I'm starting to feel left out" Arlo joked.

"Because we are the least creative people I know" Sebastian laughed, slinging an arm over Arlo's shoulders.

"Oh yeah forgot about that." Arlo replied.

The friends conversation was soon interrupted when owls started flying into the room dropping letters everywhere. Tanner and Malia were both given a letter.

Malia opened her letter to see that it was from her father.

Dear Malia
Tell tanner I said happy birthday
there is a candy bag in the box
I sent your brother for him.

You and your brother are to share
that candy equally. I want no fighting.

You better write to me every single day. I think Oliver is driving me
crazy.

I love you to the moon and back.

Malia quickly scanned the gryffindor table to see which brother had gotten the box. She then saw Derek making his way over to Jared and assumed it was her twin.

"I'll be right back guys" Malia quickly said before hopping up and making her way over to her brothers.

"Ok, now who's getting what" Derek asked, looking into the bag filled with a mix between wizarding candy and muggle candy.

"Dibs on the pixy sticks" Malia quickly spoke up causing her brother to groan but hand them over none the less. She also quickly grabbed the velvet bag with Tanner's name engraved in it.

"I get the Bertie Botts" Jared added.

"I get the jelly slugs" Derek piped in.

They then all split the skittles packages, sugar quills, and Hershey bars.

"Nice doing business with you all" Malia joked before skipping back to her friends with her arms filled with candy.

"We probably shouldn't have let her take the pixy sticks" Jared comments, knowing how sugar effects his already hyper sister.

"Nope" Derek agrees.

"Here you go Tanner, my dad sent you this" Malia giggled, handing Tanner the bag.

"You're dad is way to nice. I didn't expect him to remember my birthday." Tanner smiled before his happy expression immediately dropped. "It's not like my parents did" he grumbled causing all of his friends to feel terrible.

"Look at what I got from them" tanner said showing them his letter.

Dear Tanner,
You and your sister better
stay out of trouble, we can't have disappointments as children forever.

"Tanner, who cares what they say. They aren't worth any sadness." Sebastian said, trying to cheer the boy up.

"Elise does. She doesn't deserve parents like them. You all see how nervous she always is." Tanner replied sadly.

"Why don't we just forget about them and we go and celebrate your birthday" Arlo cheered, causing a small smile to grow on Tanner's face.

"I've got a great idea" Malia said "why don't we all sneak off and go to hogsmede"

"But the first trip isn't until next week" Tanner questioned, causing all three of them to smirk.
