She's gone.
All night I worried about her, even thought about going down there to see if she needed anything, if she was ok.
But she's gone.
Not even being a whole 24 hours and she has already managed to escape.
At first I couldn't fathom her being a lunar. She's so shy, not one to put herself out there, so kind. Could she possibly be one of those manipulating, cruel, twisted creatures? What am I even saying? Not all of them are like that—at least I hope not.
Seeing her yesterday, so helpless, broken, ashamed. At first I was angry, she lied about who she was. But my anger was quickly replaced with hurt, but not for me. For her.
She was brave for coming to warn me, and being so exposed like she was. Knowing the Queen would have seen her. I don't even think I would have guts to do what she did.
I can even still feel the kiss she planted on my lips. It still lingers and haunts me in my sleep, all at the same time.
What amazes me is how she received all of this information. Who told her the Queen was out to kill me? I don't think just anyone would know that. And why is Levana so hellbent on taking her back to Luna? She could have just dealt with her right then and there; like she was nothing more than a beggar or peasant. She must mean something to Levana, clearly. Or Cinder wouldn't be alive.
There is so much to think about and such little time to figure it all out. It's ironic really. Time is infinite, but also limited. And now that Cinder has escaped I have an even bigger problem on my hands.
Her Royal Highness will not honor the informal alliance, because Cinder has escaped. Which leaves me back at square one—the marriage alliance.
I like to call it "suicide mission." Because no doubt Levana will kill me if she is made Empress of New Beijing.
Which I cannot let happen.
Because that means my father died for absolutely nothing. And that is not how I will honor him.
Damn the Queen, her guards, and every single twisted Lunar.
I hope that where ever Cinder ran, Levana can't find her.
