When Katie walked into her father's quarters, the first thing she noticed was that her father and the princess were bent around a small table.

The second thing she noticed was that they were yelling at each other, and she had just caught them, mid-yelling session.

"—just like last time, isn't it?"

"It won't be! We Alteans have sworn to fulfill our duties and keep the quintessence out of Galran hands. You have every right to trust us!"

"I have no right to trust you, you two-faced, daughter of a traitor! Your father lied to me, and he put my family in danger. That can never be erased!"

The princess slammed her palm down on the table, making a large map spring together and roll away. "I'm not responsible for my father's actions, and you know it, Samuel!"

"Don't call me that!"

"I tried to help you, and he wouldn't listen! Please, I'm trying not to make the same mistake that I made before." She looked at him with pleading eyes, and Katie willed him to answer, nod his head, do something to agree to whatever they were arguing about, but instead he pulled out his knife and stabbed the table in anger.

"Urrgh!" Captain Holt paced around the table and yanked at his graying hair before sighing in defeat. "I will agree to stop the Galra from gaining quintessence, but from then on, we will not be allies, Princess."

So he's still his angry self, Katie thought, I guess he won't change.

Allura leaned back, scoffing in disbelief. "Would it not be wise to keep us as friends, if not allies? What about your crew? They aren't exactly an army. What about your daughter? Without our help, you would all be defenseless. You have no backup ships, no soldiers, and, according to recent records, no allies. After this battle, Samuel, you would be our enemy. Should you traverse into our territory, we will not refrain from firing."

Katie watched her dad scowl and yank his knife out of the table. "We were allies before, and you betrayed me. I'm doing this for my family."

As Samuel stalked out of the room, Allura shot him a you-don't-know-what-you're-getting-into look, before leaning over the map on the table.

"That foolish old man...." She muttered, "Can he not see I'm trying to help him?"

"My father doesn't accept help."

At the sound of Katie's voice, Allura's plumed hat nearly hit the ceiling, and her eyes widened to the size of sand dollars. She instinctively reached for her pocket, most likely containing a weapon of some sort, but stopped when she saw it was just the captain's daughter.

"Oh, well, Katie— um, how-how long, exactly, have you been there?"

Katie leaned casually on a barrel and examined her fingernails. "Long enough to know my father is holding a grudge against you. Let me guess; something that happened long ago, when I was too young to remember it?"

Allura sighed and glanced down at the map. "Unfortunately, yes."

Katie walked over to the table and studied the papers laid out. One was a large map displaying the edge of Galra territory, and the others were notes on the people and landmarks of the area. Each were stamped with the Holt stamp, a large "H" on the cover of a book.

"My father visited Galra territory, didn't he? He drew out this map." She pushed aside some of the papers and skimmed one on the bottom. "This details a Galran ship versus an Altean ship." She glanced at Allura in disbelief. "Why are you involved with this?"
