Edward's face shown a bright red handprint. Despite the pain that stung his cheek he forced himself up, and tried to grab the mans hands. When he finally managed he yelled,

"Run Aras, run!"

As Edward yelled, the man's wife burst through the door.

"What are you doing dear?" she asked as she looked around in horror.

"Just branding the slaves," he replied.

" There just children!" she exclaimed as she grabbed Aras and Edward.

She stormed out of the sleeping quarters and to the house both of the boys. Once inside the huge house she quietly entered a plain white room with a small bed and rocking chair.

"It's not luxury, but this is better than where you were," she said as she put Aras and Edward down.

The night continued on, Edward fell asleep on the the small bed while the slavemaster's wife tried to refresh Aras's burn. She applied ice, aloe Vera, and even milk on Aras burn to help it heal quickly.

Days after being brand, Aras's torment wasn't over, in fact his slavemaster treated him worse then ever. His slavemaster would throw him on the floor and step on him, in hopes of crushing his tiny bones, but the slavemaster's wife would always come to his rescue before it got too out of hand. She acted like a mother to him. she reminded him of his mother back in Lithuania. Her smile, her waist length light brown hair, and her kindness.

Aras always wanted to thank the kind slave master's wife, he'd spend countless hour thinking how to thank her. He didn't really have anything to give. One day he found a really rare flower, it was a jade flower. It was a beautiful blue green color and was in full bloom. It wasn't really some great and big, but Aras thought the slave master's wife would like it. He picked and ran to the house. As he ran through the fields, he bumped into Regina. She was crying, her tears like tiny rivers.

"What's wrong?" Aras asked.

"My daddy is hurting my mommy," she replied in between sobs.

Terror struck Aras, he feared for Regina's mom's safety. He rushed to the house. He quietly opened the door, and walks in. He peered into a room, hoping to find her still safe.

"How can you trade me for one of them?!" the slave master yelled furiously.

" Because you're cruel and heartless!" she yelled back.

He leaned his head more, to get a better look. His slave master had his wife corner. He held a knife. Aras watched in terror as his slave master stabbed wife until she let out one last scream of pain. Aras stepped back, he had witness murder and couldn't do anything about it. He ran back to fields holding back tears. Once he got to the field, his tears cascaded down his face.
