It was an impulse move, but Kayla had to do it, this pain was taking a toll on her soul. In just the two months, she made more plans than she ever did in her life. She gave her work and her roommate and also best friend 30 day notice. This is what she had to do, even though many people didn’t understand. She spent days on her laptop and on the phone, making plans to move to Nashville TN. She looked out the window and the beautiful flowers that were lined across the porch, the sun was shinning bright. It was a beautiful day, and for just a second she let out a smile. It faded fast, as she remembered that she was leaving this place for good. Los Angeles was her home, her place she cherished with all her heart. Now she was leaving this place, that her heart called home. Only four months ago, she couldn’t make the decision to leave her beautiful home, her life, her job, now she would do anything to get away.
The reason she gave for leaving for only part of it, she had to lie a little bit. Eight months ago, January 14th on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, a publisher in Nashville ran across her website. Francesca Cooper was fascinated by the stories and the songs, she wanted to know more. Kayla received an email from her, saying that she was interested in working with her. Kayla was blown away, in shock even. What were the chances that a publisher would come across her website? The moment was incredible! Francesca said that she would be willing to work over Skype with her, and maybe in the future Kayla could think about taking a trip down there. Nashville was so far away, and even a visit would take some time. How long would she stay? She couldn't stay long with her job, her family, her friends and her boyfriend the lovely Dylan Johnson.
Five months in, Francesca called her and asked a hard question. She asked if she would be willing to move out there for a year. Francesca told her that she had so much talent that she would like to get more serious with her work. She couldn't move to Nashville could she? This decision was huge, she talked to her family, her friends, her boyfriend. Most importantly she talked to God about this. She never thought in a million years that she would move out of California to a colder climate. She loved the sun, she loved all of California’s beauty, but sometimes life happens. Only eight months ago, she couldn’t control her excitement, it seemed like it was forever ago.
It was June 2nd, when Dylan looked into her eyes and told her he had found someone else, her life was over. She couldn’t believe that this was happening, but why was she surprised? I mean, look at her. Who was she, someone special? No, she knew it all along, she knew that he would find someone better. She was so angry with herself for thinking love was for her and so angry with God for bringing love in her life. Dylan was her whole world, he was her best friend, he was her life. Her heart was shattered into pieces, and in that moment she wanted to leave. She had no reason to stay anymore, yes her friends and family were here. Yes, she would miss them, but every where was a reminder of him and she needed to go far away. She called Francesca Cooper and told her that she would be willing to move out there. Kayla was still trying to convince everyone that this wasn’t because of the break up, this was a great opportunity and she needed to take it. Her family and her best friend talked her ear off and told her to give it some time, but she was doing what she wanted to do. Francesca arranged for her to live with a friend she knew that was looking for a roommate, She even was willing to pay for her plane ticket. Everything was going according to plan and she would go with it.
