Chapter 1: The Price I Pay
Since given the green light from her audition, Shawna Rae is excited to start filming commercials for Oat Boats cereal. Shawna was recently contacted about taking over as spokesperson for Oat Boats. Since Brianna Jordan was unable to continue on because of her film role, the company considered Shawna to be the next best thing. Shawna is on her way to film her first commercial, and she seems to be nervous. Her sister Alexis drives her to the meeting.
"Where is this at?" Alexis asked.
"Spotlight Studios," Shawna said, proudly.
"Wow, you sound like a pro already." Alexis said.
"Alexis, why didn't mom come to the audition?" Shawna asked, curiously.
"She needs some time to herself, Shawna," Alexis said. "It's been really hard for her since the divorce."
"It's been hard for us too." Shawna reminded her.
Around that time, Shawna and Alexis arrived at Spotlight Studios. Shawna went into the main lobby.
"May I help you?" the receptionist asked, puzzled to see a strange, young girl at the studio.
"Hi, I'm Shawna Rae," Shawna said. "I'm here to film a commercial for Oat Boats."
The receptionist still didn't quite get it, but obeyed the order.
The director, Bryan Conway, came into the waiting room and got Shawna.
"Shawna, I'm Bryan Conway," Bryan said. "I'll be directing the commercial."
"Nice to meet you." Shawna said. Shawna was led into the soundstage where the commercial was to be filmed.
Back home, Kathy has a horrible case of depression. She believed that she and John had a love for the ages, and couldn't understand why he chose his job over his family. Kathy's friend Nikki Leech visits her at home.
"How's it going?" Nikki asked.
"Got out of bed for the first time today," Kathy said.
"Well, It's a good start, Kathy," Nikki said.
"How are you doing?" Kathy asked.
"I'm good," Nikki said. "How are the girls?"
"They're ok," Kathy said. "Shawna is filming the commercial today for Oat Boats cereal."
"I'm sure she's excited about that." Nikki said.
"Yes, she's excited," Kathy said. "But I know she's hurting inside."
"Kath, I was wondering if you'd like to come to a jewelry party I'm having." Nikki said, smiling.
"I don't know, Nikki, I don't think I can face everyone right now," Kathy said.
"Kathy, I can guarantee you that everyone won't be talking about the divorce at a jewelry party." Nikki said.
"I think my girls need me more than I need jewelry," Kathy said.
"Well, suit yourself, Kath," Nikki said. "You know you can call me when you need to talk."
"Thank you." Kathy said.
"I'll talk to you later." Nikki said, leaving the house. Kathy, at this time, broke down and started to cry hysterically. Kathy believed that she would never seem whole again.
"Go ahead, Shawna." the director said, and Shawna started to perform her commercial.
"Have you ever tried Oat Boats?? How could you resist the golden brown flakes, the delicious taste, and the great price! Honestly, how could you say no to Oat Boats!" Shawna performed.
