Andrea's POV"Fired?" Deacon asked. I gave him a nod.
"Apparently there's been a few complaints about the way I 'mentor children' whatever that means. Everyone knows I shouldn't be allowed within a ten mile radius of chil- " I cut myself short for a second there. "Ohhhhh." Okay this kinda made sense now.
Deacon chuckled, but his face grew serious moments later. "It looks like this is more than that, though."
I started to anxiously rip the callous off tips of my fingers. I mean obviously this meant more. This meant me not fucking graduating... but Deacon didn't know that and I didn't want Deacon to know that. Not finishing high school could possibly be the most embarrassing moment of my existence for the rest of my life.
Something not even I could grasp yet.
"You can tell me, Andrea." Deacon whispered to me after a while. I glanced down at my fingers and realized I had no more callous to rip off.
Great.
"Well so you see-... you see, the thing is... so the thing is..."
"I'm going to die before I hear this, Andrea." Deacon interrupted. I gave him a weary smile.
"I didn't exactly... graduate." Deacon's eyebrows furrowed in confusion. I shut my eyes so tightly after those words came out, I was seeing stars. There was a very long pause before anyone said anything.
"How does that have anything to do with camp?" Deacon finally spoke.
Words just started spilling out of my mouth at this point. "Listen I know it's stupid and I'm stupid and I'm a failure and I was probably the only person besides smelly Pete who didn't graduate and the most stupidest part was that I just forgot to do any volunteer hours and oh god I'm going to go nowhere in life now that I just got kicked out of my only opportunity this summer to graduate-"
"Woah woah woah slow your roll, girl. So you technically didn't graduate yet. That's no big deal. They got you on a technicality anyways like no one actually does the volunteer hours." I looked over at Deacon, lost for words.
"What do you mean, no one really does the volunteer hours?"
"Well it's just a sheet where you fill out where you went and log the hours there, then get a supervisor signature. I had Tom sign mine. Dylan had Chad sign his. Get it done early in the year and they ask zero questions."
My jaw almost hit the floor at this news.
"Don't worry your pretty little head about it and go to bed. I'll handles everything." Deacon grinned as he ruffled up the top of my hair. I gave him a sad smile and got up from the steps of my cabin.
"Thank you, Deacon." He gave me a nod. "Also: don't do anything I wouldn't do."
I was about to push the cabin door open but i thought about something else and had to turn around once more. "Also also: if Marion's body can't be found tomorrow... just know your secrets are safe with me."
"I'm not killing Marion." Deacon replied seriously.
"I'm sure you're not." Was all I said before sending him a wink and disappearing into the cabin.

Deacon's POVI couldn't shake the grin on my face. I had something way better than murder in mind.
Okay I worded that wrong, there's a lot of things better than murder...

"I don't think this is a good idea." Brian whispered.
"Shut it, Brian, this is perfect. We gotta do everything we can to keep Andrea here. There's no way she can leave me. Not now. This is the best summer camp I've been to period." Sarah shot back.
"I don't even know who Andrea is." Tyler groaned.
"Neither do I." Another kid piped up in the back. I was massaging the homicidal thoughts out of my head. I think this whole situation had brought me one step closer to understanding Andrea's homicidal tendencies.
It had taken me 14 years to get all the boys and girls out of their cabins. They were now gathered and lined up around the open ground area, each with a spoon and metal can in hand.
"Remember what I promised you, kids. Do this for me and I'll sneak in ice cream for you all next week." I cut in over the ruckus of the crowd. "Now get to clambering your loud instruments."
"These are cans."
"Same difference, Brian." I shot him a glare, but the kids began creating the most atrocious sounds with their cans. It was so loud, that by the time our first few adults came out to see what the commotion was about, I was sure I'd gone deaf.
The girls from B2 slowly made their way out from the cabins. Andrea looked the most sleep deprived, while... I think her name was Jade? Yeah... Jade looked like she was on cocaine tonight.
"What in gods name is going on out here?" Marion demanded. She had wandered out in a fuzzy robe, house shoes, and hair curlers in. Some of the parents couldn't stifle their laughs at how ridiculous the woman looked.
"Thank you all for coming here tonight." I called out to the crowd. Andrea tried to mouth What the fuck are you doing? But it was interrupted by a yawn that came out of nowhere.
Emily yawned next, who then passed it on to Lily, who then passed it on to the rest of the group. Shit, I had to move quickly or people would literally start dropping like flies.
"What's this about?" Marion asked.
"Good question, Marion. I have gathered us all here tonight to address the elephant in the room.. or.. forest, rather. We are here in protest of Andrea McMiller being fired from staff." There were a few gasps in the crowd.
"What the hell is he talking about?" Cindy asked Andrea.
"It's not-" Andrea started. It looked like she was physically choking on words now. She then turned to me and mouthed me a message that definitely got through this time.
It had a lot of profanities in it.
Oh shit, I thought to myself.
