Listen up,
I need to tell you this,
You might not like me,
But this is my thesis.
You're my rock.
Strong and cragged.
You keep me grounded
When life turns acid.
You're my person,
My person on hold.
You're the place I go to
When life turns cold.
You're my touchstone.
Bright and dull.
Precious and faded,
Rubbed raw with my thumb.
I let go of you,
Hung up,
Locked you up,
Threw you away,
But I realised,
And I might have realised too late
That without you
I'm drowning in life's lake.
So, tesoro, I'm sending you this note,
Please, please send a life boat.
I need you to save me,
To lift me away.
I need you to hold me,
To keep me at bay.
I need you to keep me, no matter what I say.
I need you to keep me, even though I threw you away.
