Your conscious faded back in to reality as the sound of monokuma's piercing voice played over the loudspeaker, the shrill vice bouncing off the walls of your hand-made prison. The same message that played every morning went in one ear and out the other and before you could bother to tune in to what he was actually saying, the screen shut off and the sound of static quickly faded into silence.
You softly groaned to yourself as you shifted the covers, pulling them under your chin. Your (E/C) eyes squinted at the clock that read 8:00 AM, causing you to grimace at the bright red numbers and throw your face back under the sheets.
"Just five more minutes..." You muttered to yourself, curling back up into a ball, eyes slowly drifting shut. Every morning you woke up at 8:00 AM and rushed into the main building to get breakfast with the rest of the students, wanting to be the first to arrive so you could have first pick on the decadent breakfast treats that Kirumi so graciously prepared every morning. But today was not your day for that and all you wanted to do was drift back into a peaceful sleep. The killing game was set and ready and monokuma had tossed the ball into your court. None of you had tried anything drastic yet, but the fear of someone taking the ever present chance of committing a heinous crime crept into your head and latched onto your aching heart with every fleeting day. It was getting harder and harder to unlock the door to your room, as the second you do someone's familiar face may be the last thing you see before your vision goes pink.
Your eyes snapped open as the doorbell to your room rang harmoniously into the air, paranoia slowly seeping into your veins, making your heart slam against your rib cage. You were snapped out of your horrifying thoughts, only to be faced with an unknown guest. Your lips parted, as you cautiously greeted the person on the other side of the door.
"W-Whos there?" You choked out, waiting for a response.
There was a moment of dead silence, causing you to almost jump out of your skin when the voice on the other side of the door chortled in response.
"Yo, It's Kaito! Y'know, luminary of the stars! I doubt you could forget about me, (F/N)!"
You groaned loudly, throwing the blankets right off of you and rolling yourself out of bed.
You didn't logically expect anyone else, to be honest. After all, he is one of your closest friends. Your lack of presence in the dining hall must have caught him off guard, deciding to face the problem head on by going straight to your dorm room. Ever since this game started, you've attempted to be by everyone's side to make this reality less harsh. For now, that was your goal. You soothed the souls of your peers and became their friends, a shoulder to lean on and an ear to lend to people's hopes and fears. Kaito, though, was the first one to come up to you and introduce himself when hell hit full force. It took you a bit for you to fully warm up to his beaming personality, as you were slightly on the more introverted side , but realized your personalities were not too far off on base level. You both were hotheads with a heart of gold, making it your collective goal to protect everyone in this academy and make their stay here as pleasant at the circumstances allowed. This sparked a bond between you two no one could break, that goal alone causing you both to create so many friends. They weren't all in the same group, but in the end, you two always gravitated back to each other.
You truly couldn't hate him, but you sure as hell could pretend to.
You landed on the floor with a thud and dramatically pulled yourself up, thrashing your limbs about you emphasize your annoyance at the presence behind the door. You stomped over to the door and swiftly threw it open, feeling the warm air from the hallway greet your tired skin. Your (E/C) eyes moved up the figure standing before you to meet beaming purple irises looking down at you. He let out a hearty laugh before he caught wind of the tension in the air, his posture stiffening a bit under your cold gaze.
