((TW: SUICIDE))

Lafayette watched John from his seat. He watched John walk down the isle, arm in arm with Washington. Despite Alexander being Washington' adopted son, the general had offered to walk Laurens down the isle, because his father wasn't very....fatherly. Lafayette watched the love of his life say his vows to Alexander Hamilton. His chest tightened and tears threatened to spill as they said their "I do"'s. He got up and ran out as they kissed. Everyone else had stood up to cheer, so he had gone unnoticed. He ran out to the balcony and let out the sobs he'd been holding in. He had loved John Laurens since he met him. But John had found love in Alexander Hamilton. Lafayette didn't say anything, too afraid he would ruin John's relationship with Alex. Besides, if Lafayette truly loved Laurens, wouldn't John's happiness be his happiness as well? Lafayette was too caught up in emotion to think about it. He sobbed for hours, nobody coming to check on him until the wedding ended.

"Lafayette, it's time to-" Angelica's stopped talking once she saw the state he was in.

"You too?" She asked.

"Not Alexander, but John," He said, picking up on what she was asking.

"Ah, I see." She said.

Angelica took Lafayette's hand in a friendly way and lead him to the outside of the church. Once there, Angelica disappeared to go talk with her sister. John came over to Lafayette. He slung an arm around his neck. Lafayette wanted to cry at John's touch, hell, he wanted to cry just being near John.

"Where were you buddy? You missed the after party!" John asked, still in a festive mood.

"I-I'm tired John...I'm gonna head home."

John was taken aback by the quick dismissal, but it was pretty late. "Alright. See you tomorrow then."

"No John, no you won't," Lafayette said, leaving.

Lafayette left so quickly, John didn't have time to ask what he meant.

John was still worried about Lafayette the next day, and it only got worse when Lafayette hadn't shown up to work.

"Hey Lex?" John asked.

"Yes love?" Alexander replied.

"I'm going to go check on Lafayette. I'm worried about what he said last night, and he didn't show up to work today."

"Lafayette wouldn't ever miss a day of work unless he had to....I'm coming with you," Alex said, now equally as worried as John.

The two made their way to Lafayette's house as fast as the could. They knocked, and when no response came....

They gently opened the door....

John screamed. Lafayette was hanging there, a rope around his neck. His face was purple-ish, tear stains evident. There was a note on the couch. Alex took it up, holding it as if it were fragile. He brought it over to John and unfolded it. The note told about Lafayette loving John, and why he didn't tell him. It explained how Alexander was a much better match for John anyways. It ended in Lafayette telling all of his friends and family that he loved them.

John started sobbing, holding the note to his chest. Alex wrapped his arms around John, holding him in a close embrace. He was startled when John pushed him away.

"This is your fault!" He shouted.

"J-john-"

"YOU MADE ME LOVE YOU!" John was screaming at this point.

"John, you can't help who you love..." Alex explained

"Yes I can..."

"No John, no you can't...."

"No I can't...." John mumbled. "Oh Lafayette.....I'm so sorry....I should have noticed your feelings, cared a bit more..."

Alex let John give Lafayette his apologies, before wrapping him in a hug again. This time John hugged back.

"I'm going to call the police...." John sobbed.

Alex stroked his hair.

"Alright..."

After the police arrived, John sobbed harder into Alex's chest, unable to watch them take Laf's body away. Alex stroked his hair and comforted him

"Shhh, shhh" He whispered, "Let's go home"

John nodded

"Yeah...let's go home"
