Peter stood in the doorway in shock as he held the three month old letter in his hand. He was so confused... Why had you come now? He waited so long...

"Pete? Can we please finish the movie?" Liz asked, pulling him out of his thoughts. Peter became annoyed by her presence... He was stupid to invite her over. She was no Y/N.

He loved you so much still, and he was afraid that you believed he didn't. Peter turned around to face Liz, and decided to gently let her down. "Liz, God I-I'm sorry but there's this emergency that came up... Maybe we can continue this some other time?" He lied. There was no way he'd spend anymore time with her, she wasn't as kind as you or caring.

Liz rolled her eyes. "Then why did you even ask me out?" She said rudely.

"M'sorry." Peter mumbled, embarrassed. "I have an emergency." Liz stood up from the couch, gathered her things, and shoved Peter on her way out. He was glad you came anyway. Liz wasn't the type of girl he wanted to date... She was too self-absorbed.

Peter called and called your phone, but there was no answer. After 15 texts, and 10 calls, he decided he had to go to you.

You sat next to your window tears still rolling down your cheeks, and your mom had a concerned look on her face as she stood in the doorway. "Y/N, please tell me what's wrong? Did something happen?"

You shook your head a little bit. "It's... It's just friend drama. Nothing you need to worry about."

She gave you a pitiful look. "Let me know if you need anything." Your mom closed the door behind you, leaving you alone with your thoughts.

It was all stupid Flash's fault, why couldn't he leave you alone? You could've been celebrating a three month anniversary with Peter right now... There was no way he'd leave Liz for you... She was the most popular girl in school, not to mention incredibly beautiful... You were just you, nothing special...

You wiped your tears, and decided there was no sense in crying. You would open up to him the way he opened up to you: through a letter.

Peter swung through Queens, making his way to you. You didn't know his identity, and as much as he wanted to tell you, he couldn't. He watched from a distance as you sat at your desk, writing on a piece of paper that he assumed was homework.

He wanted to knock on your window, take off his mask, and kiss you. He wanted to hold you and tell you that he was all yours. But something was stopping him, and he realized he was once again afraid. Peter couldn't just go in there and tell you he loved you again... It took you so long to say something to his letter, so why would he put himself in that position again?

Peter watched as you folded your homework into your backpack, and as your mom came in with a fuzzy blanket and tissues. That's when he realized your cheeks were red and your eyes were puffy—he could see all the way from over here. Peter assumed he made you sad, and he made you cry; something he never wanted to do.

The next morning at school, you avoided him. He knew it, too. Everytime you'd pass him in the hallway, he'd call out your name, causing you to speed up or even run into a class you didn't have.

Ned ate with him, and MJ ate with you. Ned knew about the letter, and how Peter felt about you. "It's like I lost MJ in a divorce..." Peter mumbled as he glanced to where you were sitting.

"Don't worry, Dad, you still have me!" Ned beamed at Peter jokingly. "But seriously, just give Y/N sometime... She'll come around, you know her Peter."

Peter sighed, and stood up. He lifted his plate off his tray to clear it off when he noticed that an envelope was under his plate. He frowned. It read "Peter" in your handwriting.

"Oh shit." Ned mumbled, causing Peter to shoot him a warning glance. He sat back down, and fumbled to rip open the letter as soon as possible.

Dear Peter,

I'm sorry I'm getting back to you three months late. I hope you believe me when I say it wasn't my fault. Flash apparently saw you place the letter in my binder, and then stole it. He swears he never opened it, and the letter was sealed when it finally fell in my hands.

I've waited for that letter. I've waited since the day I realized I loved you. It was after the eighth grade dance, and you took Nancy. The boy I went with ditched me, so you danced with me during the slow song. I've waited every Valentine's Day, every movie night... And I missed the day when it came.

Because like me, you deserve someone who loves you with her entire heart. And I do Peter, I really do. I hope you still love me, and I hope you get this letter on time.

If you don't love me anymore. That's okay, I get it. Liz is amazing and I don't think I will ever match up to her. I'm sorry if I was too late.

Love, Y/N

Peter sat there for a moment, and then whipped his head over to your table. You were gone, and so was MJ. His face fell. Peter was so close to telling you, yet so far.

He whipped out a sticky note, and scribbled some words on it. Words that he meant with all his heart.

You were afraid of facing him again after that letter. It was a short letter, and nothing compared to his. You wrote it to parallel his, hoping he'd see how much you cared. You kept scanning the room, on the lookout for him. After lunch, you didn't see him for the rest of the day. The final bell rang signaling school was over and you felt tired and empty by the end of the day.

You approached your locker to see a small sticky note attached to it. It read:

Today I love you more than ever; tomorrow I will love you even more. I need you more than ever; I want you more than ever.

You turned your head to see Peter standing there, smiling at you. He approached you, and you wanted to run. He was wearing his dumb blue sweater that you loved so much... You were unsure what to do, whether to run to him or run away. He was standing in front of you, and silence filled the air between you two for a few seconds.

"Y/N..." Peter spoke. You froze, and then looked up at him. He wrapped his arms around you, and pulled you close.

"I wasn't too late?"

"Never." Peter whispered.
