Lydia was twenty when she fell in love with Nick.
The man was seven years her senior and far more experienced when it came to the real world. He was full of knowledge that he loved to share, and Lydia was nothing if not eager to learn.
They definitely weren't soulmates. Nick was a pastel type of person. His favorite song was Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls and his wardrobe consisted of patterns and soft colors. They were much too alike and no amount of similar interests could be the glue that held them together, especially when Lydia had a soulmark that screamed every time Nick so much as mentioned music.
They weren't together for very long and everything ended amicably, but when they were together, Lydia was granted a glimpse of a life in which her soulmate was just the same as her. When they inevitably ended, Lydia was just as hurt as she was with every other relationship.
It was the first time she thought she may never find his soulmate, and try as she might to rid the doubt from her head, she still believes it may be true.
