"Father Dear!" I yelled in a sing song voice as I finished breakfast in the kitchen.
"Daughter dear," he rolled his eyes as he came in, sleep etched on his face.
"You didn't sleep again." I sighed. Worry crossed my face as I watched him. "I can make it go away." I smiled softly at him.
"Nope, not a chance, Kid." he smirked. "I won't do it unless you do it." he contested.
"You know I can't." I groaned slightly. He would only let me take away his pain if I would take away mine. He shrugged in response and sat down at the breakfast bar. I served him his plate and then sat beside him.
"What's on the agenda for today?" he asked, after swallowing some eggs.
"I don't know. I was thinking about hanging out with Steve and learning more moves with the shield." I shrugged. I grabbed a piece of bacon and began munching on it.
"Sounds boring. Why don't you hang out with me instead and help me develop and make more things?" he questioned, looking dramatically hurt.
I rolled my eyes, "You're so dramatic." He smirked and laughed a little.
"Did you sleep?" he questioned quietly.
"No." it was a short and clipped answer. We don't really talk about our nightmares. I stood up, now finished with my meal. I went to the sink and washed it off, and then I placed it in the dishwasher.
I turned to my father, the one I called my own. I really looked at him. His reactor gleamed in his chest and sleep depravation was etched into every feature of him.
"I'm going to go find Steve." I gave him an encouraging smile. "You're welcome to join us."
"No thanks, kiddo. I'm going to go work on some things in the lab." he said, ruffling my morning hair. "Might want to fix that." he winked, walking away.
"Okay, Old Man." I rolled my eyes, walking out of the kitchen to my room. I didn't need to shower, so I just went to my closet and put on my training suit. I slipped on my form fitted shoes that flexed and moved with me. I put on some form fitted gloves and tied my hair into a high ponytail. I braid my locks and let it rest over my shoulder.
I walked out of my room to go to the training grounds of the Avengers tower. I entered the elevator.
"Where to, Ms. Shay?" JARVIS asked me.
"Training grounds, Sir JARVIS. Please notify Steve to meet me there." I politely asked.
"Yes, Ms. Shay." he answered back. I waited patiently in the elevator as it took me to the training grounds. The elevator dinged, allowing me to step off. I entered the training grounds and already found Steve there.
"I'm ready." I enthusiastically yelled as I entered. I smirked as I saw the shield sitting on a bench. I walked over and slid it on my arm, the familiarity coursing through my veins. I eyed Steve from behind the shield.
"So, Cap." I smirked, "Anything new to show me today?" I asked.
"You've learned just about everything." he shrugged, pride forming in his eyes. I jumped into a front flip, tucking the shield close to me. When I landed I whipped the shield at Steve, only for it to miss him by a long shot.
"Damn, I thought I had that move down." I sighed. He rolled his eyes and extended his arm to the left of him, the shield returning to it's rightful owner.
"You do." he commented.
"I thought I could fool you." I scoffed, crossing my arms. He rolled his eyes once more, going to ruffle my hair, but I took his wrist and pressed a preasure point and managed to twist his arm behind his back, but he unfurled from that with ease, going to punch high, but I ducked low and punched him in the stomach. That hurt.
