A simple malfunction. That's all it was that had gotten them into this mess. A dragon trap with a simple malfunction. And now they could kiss the contract - and possibly their lives - goodbye.

The trio had been summoned to a colder island, like severely colder. There was a dragon who had been terrorizing a village, stealing the fish they caught from the nearby river. The dragons den was in a cave system in a mountain by the river and so that's where they went. Gwizdo was quick to make a contract and set about planning a trap.

"It doesn't seem like the best idea, Gwizdo..." Lian-Chu observed as he scanned the ice, noting that it couldn't possibly hold a dragon the size of their hunt.

The plan was simple. They would lure the dragon out to some fish on the ice and trap it. Once it was trapped they could set about killing it and collecting their pay! It was so easy, anyone could do it! Except...it wasn't.. Lian-Chu was right and the ice broke when the dragon came out and now they were trapped on the ice, rushing downstream quickly.

"All our cash! It's gone now!" Gwizdo wailed, clinging to his small piece of ice to keep from falling into the freezing water.

"Worry about not dying first, Gwizdo!" Lian-Chu yelled, struggling to keep from falling in.

Hector screamed, clinging to his ice piece. This couldn't possibly end well for them now! Why did this always have to happen?!

Lian-Chu cried out in surprise, his piece of ice overturning as he fell into the water. It was cold, good lord it was cold. If he hadn't known better he would've gasped when he fell in but he held his breath and tried to resurface.

"Lian-Chu?!" Gwizdo looked at the water worriedly.

He was seriously freaked out. If Lian-Chu died..but he couldn't possibly..right?! They would all make it out of this, just like always! Right?

Lian-Chu surfaced for a moment, gasping before being dragged back under by the rushing current. Gwizdo and Hector searched for something to pull him back up with but there was nothing! Nothing at all!

"What do we do?!" Gwizdo asked in a panic, looking around to help, anything all.

Hector suddenly spied a busted fishing spear on the shore, leaping from his ice piece and onto the snow as he scrambled for the spear. He snatched it up and lowered it into the water, hoping that Lian-Chu grab ahold of it. He felt a tug and pulled it out of the water enough for Lian-Chu to climb out, coughing and gasping for air.

Gwizdo was glad to see Lian-Chu wasn't dead. But things on his end weren't any better. His ice kept breaking and he was heading toward the edge of the island so..a waterfall into an endless drop in other words!

"Lian-Chu!!" He shrieked, tried to paddle back away from the edge.

Lian-Chu looked toward Gwizdo, his eyes widening. "Hold on!"

He grabbed the spear and ran toward the edge as fast as he could in the snow. He couldn't go much faster and Gwizdo was approaching the edge fast.

"Lian-Chu!" Gwizdo yelled louder, tipping over the edge.

"Gwizdo, no!" Lian-Chu shouted as he watched Gwizdo's piece of ice go over the edge.

He ran up to the edge, seeing the stream of water run down until it couldn't be seen anymore. Gwizdo..he was gone.. Lian-Chu looked down sadly. He failed to reach him in time.

"Lian-Chu!" Lian-Chu perked at his name, looking toward the call.

It was Gwizdo! He was clinging to a rock on the edge of the fall and very much alive, but he was slipping and fast!

"Hold on, Gwizdo!" Lian-Chu caught the back of Gwizdo's shirt on the spear and swung him back onto the snow.

"I'm alive! I'm alive!" Gwizdo cried happily, laughing in relief.

They were all freezing and soaked to the bone but they were very much alive and thankful for it. But there was still the dragon to slay...maybe they would add an extra fee for nearly dying? No no, Lian-Chu wouldn't hear of it. It was their own fault after all.
