Chapter 3

I awoke the next morning in a soft bed. I sat up and looked around at my surroundings. I was about to stand up to leave until I realized I was unclothed. I looked around for something to cover myself with. I saw a robe and quickly put in on. I made my way quietly to the door.

“Where are you going?” a voice asked.

 I jumped and quickly turned around and saw Adrian coming out of the bathroom dripping wet with nothing but a towel on.

“Umm…. I was going to go back to my room and shower,” I answered.

“No need. You can shower here. I had Maria bring some clothes for you. I have to go to a business meeting in Tokyo. I will be gone for about 3 weeks. I expect you to behave yourself while I’m gone,” he informed me. He walked towards me and tilted my head up to look at him. “Last night was fun. We will have to do that again when I return,” he added.

He got dressed and left with a suit case in his hand. As soon as he left the grounds, I took a shower, and got dressed. All the while I keep thinking ‘How fun these 3 weeks are going to be’.

        Two weeks have gone by pretty fast. I headed down to the kitchen for my breakfast buffet. As soon as I walked through the kitchen door I was greeted by Maria.

   “Buenos Días, Miss Maya. My, my, aren’t we glowing today! I take it you have slept well?” she asked.

  “Yes ma’am, I did. I don’t think I have slept that well since I was brought here,” I answered.

 “Well, that is fantastic to hear.  Master called last night. He will be gone for another week.” Maria informed me.

“More fun for me without him!”  I said with excitement.

“On another note, here is your breakfast buffet,” she laughed.

 I looked at all the delicious food I couldn’t wait to devour. But my stomach suggested otherwise. I ran towards the bathroom and puked my guts out. Straight after, a wave of nausea hit me and caused me to black out.

   When I awoke, I was on the couch with a cold compress on my forehead. I sat up and almost came face to face with Maria.

  “How are you feeling, mija?” she asked with a concerned look.

   “I feel like I have been hit with a truck, nut other than that I feel fine. Why? What’s wrong?” I started to worry.

 Maria started to mumble something in a foreign language and held her hands above my stomach.

“Ay! How could have not have known this before?!” then she started speaking rapidly in her language.

The way she was speaking concerned me, so I had to ask. I needed to know.

“Maria! What is wrong? And what were you doing to my stomach? What are you?” I started bombarding her with questions.

  “Oh mija, lo siento. I am a witch. And yes I know that you have heard tales of how witches, werewolves and vampires don’t get along, but rarely some of us do. And when we meet again, I will tell you how I got tied in with Adrian,” she had me wondering.

     “What do you mean when we meet again?’ I asked.

  “I can’t tell you much, but you are pregnant, and this is not a normal pregnancy. You cannot stay here, and I promise you I will not tell the master anything. I have packed some things that you will need on your journey. There are these rare beings that are not human, but not quite immortal either. You are one of them. This has not happen in centuries. The king has been searching for one every since his last one died, and every vampire since then. . I say when we meet again because we will cross paths in the near future. You will learn about what you are along the way. Steer clear of any guards or royal figures. You’re a smart girl so I know you will survive. Te amo mucho, mija. I will see you soon. Now GO!” she exclaimed.

   Maria pushed me toward the front door, and I stepped out. I turned around and gave her a huge hug.

“Thank you. For everything,” I whispered silently crying.

I walked down the steps, and towards the gate. As I opened it I turned around to see Maria waving and crying. With tears streaming down my face, I walked through the gate and never looked back.
