~I wasn't used to being the center of attention, I was only used to being someone's other half. I was longing desperately for a dynamic that I didn't know how to ask for. When you found me and saved me, I was a mess, a complete wreck. You took an interest in me, in my passions... and didn't make me feel like a burden. Instead of trying to change me to be something I'm not, you embraced my weirdness and loved me anyway. We truly are, meant to be.~

For early February it was cold. There was a chill in the air that'd usually began to pass already and I was confused on why it wasn't going away. I'd lived in London for a long time, I knew the weather pretty well, and usually by this time the chill was mainly gone, leaving behind rainstorms and strangely beautiful skies that melted blue, purple, pink, and golden just along the horizon. The faded colours intensified the beauty of London's beautiful architecture. I loved to see the sun fading down over the edge of the earth, taking the beauty of daytime into the serenity of nighttime. It was a comforting sight, one I usually enjoyed tremendously, however tonight the bitter chill was ruining the mood.
Usually, I'd set up my tripod somewhere near downtown London and catch the sun hiding behind buildings. It was a beautiful picture to capture with the right camera, and the right angle, and the perfect second to take the picture. Tonight it was too cold to do so, it'd probably cause the glass of my camera to fog up and that can be a mess to clean up if it somehow manages to get inside of the lens.
I decided I'd stop in at the little shop to pick up some coffee to have before I head down to wait on the night train back to campus. I knew that my roommate would cover for me if someone came looking for me. We had a delicately measured level of mutual understanding. If by some chance I come sneaking in past curfew he doesn't squeal, and in return, I don't nark on him for having weed in the school. It worked out nicely for us both.
His name was Kevin. He was a freshman this year, from Ohio. He had a strange accent for someone from the states, I don't really know what made it stand out so much. He wasn't too much of anything. He was cool, but not cool enough to be in a frat house. He was a gamer, but he didn't hang out with the gamers. He was confident enough to talk his way into bed with a different woman every night, but not confident enough to speak up when I speak to him. There was nothing spectacular about him. He was boring, in his own right. I suppose it was okay, though, because, to him, I'm probably some alien life-form.
I got inside the coffee shop in quite a hurry, fearing that they may close if it gets a bit later. Once I go inside, I walk up to the counter and the lady at the cash register takes my order. She nodded and told me to pay when I finished and walked off. She didn't give me my coffee automatically so I sit down at a table and pull out my camera.
I'd gotten a couple of good shots today, but it hadn't been all the pictures I'd wanted to take. There were a lot of things that I hadn't gotten to take a picture of that I was hoping to add to my project tonight before I hand it in tomorrow in class.
"Kid with the green eyes. Cappuccino is ready." The cashier called, and I stood up, going to grab my coffee. I sit back down and begin nursing the Cappuccino, stirring it lightly with the little mixing straw they'd given me. I did this same thing weekly, sometimes nightly depending on the weather.
On nice days where it's warm enough to walk around in just a light sweater until later, I'll sit out most of the night with my camera, catching the beauty of both the night and the day. I'll sit down with my laptop when I get home and examine each picture until I find something that fits with my style and after that, I edit it and make it to where no one could tell that I'm using a camera I spent about 38 dollars on at the local second-hand shop just before classes started at the first of the term.
