Jeremy pulled his hood over his head, he's cheeks turning red from embarrassment. His eyes started to water and he stared at his feet as he made his way through the school hallway. Everyone's eyes were on him, not that that was anything different. Ever since the whole squip thing the whole school had been a buzzing about him and Rich.
Most days he didn't show up, instead he stayed with Micheal who up in until now had still be recovering. Micheal was already here, waiting by his locker in his signature red hoodie. People moved past him without a second glance. Even tragedy couldn't make Micheal cool.
"Hey," Jermey said quietly when he was close enough. Micheal spared him a soft smile, though Jermey could see he was just as uncomfortable as he was. "Are you doing okay?"
"Yeah," Michael's voice was completely unconvincing. Jermey pulled him into a quick hug before turning to open his locker.
The bell rang and he walked Micheal to class, all the while aware of the eyes burning through his jacket. At the back of his head he remembered that was Christine was in his first period class. He felt nervous, having not seen her since she broke up with him.
He made it to his seat in the back of the class just before the last bell and the teacher, Miss Dane, took attendance. She looked surprised and when she got to his name and got a "present" instead of absent silence.
Christine wouldn't look at him. He hadn't done anything wrong, and he hoped it was only because she was so preoccupied with her school work. He hadn't talked to her since they broke up, not even a "ok" to the break up text.
He kept his hood up the whole class, his ear buds were blasting music that he couldn't hear his suffocating thoughts over.
