I walked into the room and heard two voices, one was deep and coarse, the other was my mom. I needed more info. I got closer being careful not to knock anything over, faraway mumbles slowly forming a conversation.
"-Had a deal, Nolan! I make weapons for your group, you stay away from my city and my family!" My mother hissed. "I understand Caroline, but this was our best chance to make sure that Jaime didn't find out about our little business venture." Nolan cackled. He was 6'3, very muscular, black hair wearing the Dissembler uniform from my dream.
The way he was talking about my mother struck a nerve, I was ready to jump out and beat him to a pulp, but he was most likely armed, even if he wasn't he could easily take me in a fight. I never could have thought that mom was doing this, but whatever the reason, it better be a damned good one.
The conversation dragged on, some other people came in and grabbed some boxes and loaded them into a chopper. I noticed another person in the room somewhere, but they were otherwise invisible to Nolan and his goons. I had seen enough, a I had to go, I had to tell someone, the police, the CIA, but I didn't I needed to hear why my mother was doing this.
In my state of trembling, I turned around and knocked over a bucket of power tools, causing a large amount of noise. The secret doorway shut, and two goons raced over to me, grabbed me and brought me over to Nolan, I flailed around, striking Nolan in the face, a line of red streaming from his nose.
"Argh! You brat!" He shouted as he jammed his fist into my gut, my vision went red and blurry, I coughed blood onto his uniform, which led him to punch me in the face, his goons dropping me to the floor. He drew his gun. A P-782 militia handgun, could kill me with one round. My mother begged him not to but her cries lied on deaf ears. She pushed past a goon and got a last hug before whispering "Shell" as a goon tosses her back. My mother mouthed the word 'run' as Nolan pulled the trigger, the yellow flash is the only illumination but the bullet just hit the floor.
Everyone was confused except me, my necklace, she had given it to me in the hospital, on the back it read "shell" must be its activation code. It was a prototype for a concealed bulletproof shield. I tried to run but a goon hit shit in the shins with the butt of his rifle. He was a bout to fire when the figure in the room corner tackled the goon, grabbed me, and jumped through the 3 inches of bulletproof glass.
