in 116 words i've explained to you the feelings i'm experiencing right now? right in this moment, not as a character in a story but as an author telling a story. this is a story of me. a below average girl. who's trying to live within a bigger story than reality.
My father came from nothing. Up until he was 2 years old they lived in the poorest and most unsafe neighborhood in the state of Illinois. His father worked and made about $2000 a month. His family was robbed in his early teens. He was a champion track and cross country runner at his high school. On Fridays when he was 15 he started working at a pizza parlor from about 3:00-1am for minimum wage, just to earn money for collage. His father (my grandfather) was an alcoholic, who's wife (my grandmother) divorced him after their 3rd child was born (my uncle). My grandfather died either a few months after or before my birth (I honestly don't know), from cancer. My grandmother on the other hand worked at the MARS factory to support for her family. she spent her days smoking and bringing home the stale chocolate bars that were to be thrown out, when she could, for her kids. My father ended up applying for a Navy scholarship to pay for collage education. 25 thousand people appalled for that same scholarship. Only 1 thousand ads accepted. My father was number 1001. After someone dropped out, and with my father being number one one the waiting list, he got the spot and went to Illinois University for free in exchange for 8 years of Naval service. After finishing his service he moved to South Coroline which is where he met my mother. They married on November 18th 2000.My mother on the other hand was a gymnast and a military kid, and didn't come from much. My grandfather served in the air force and navy. Was always gone and never around. My mother was valedictorian at her high school and was on her way of going to the olympics, but she decided to go to collage instead. She's been a Physical Therapist since college and is now a teacher of the same profession.
