Stepping in

I watched from the window as the two girls cross over the mansion. It seem strange as the street is usually empty. The taller girl with a beautiful smile caught my attention. She was laughing with her friend, who is shorter and seems more energetic. I scanned the  are which the taller girl has on her white neck, and in the are large words, "Alice". Hmm.... it must be her name. I heard the word dare in their conversation , but I brushed it. It's probably not important. I should get back to work....

"Jess, you sure this is a good idea?", I asked for which seems like a hundredth time. She just shrugged. Shrugged? We're going into a haunted house and she shrugged?

"Oh, thank you so much for making this reassuring." I said, sarcasm dripping in my voice.

If she noticed my sarcasm, she chose to ignore it. "You're welcome" she replied, cheerfully.

I've heard lots of rumors about Cliveville, and they aren't nice. There is a rumor that goes on last year that the ghost of the mansion is an old man who killed his two sons because they tried to stop him from eating chocolate. Then, he found out that chocolate may disappear soon, and as a result he killed himself by overdosing chocolate. Personally, I feel for the old man because nobody deserves to live in a world with no chocolate. Now, they say whoever tried to walk into the mansion got stuffed with chocolate that they soon suffocated. ~~Shudders~~

Creak

I've always seen the mansion from afar but I never got to see it this closely. Now that I saw it, I noticed that the mansion is a beauty. If someone have put effort and try to fix this place, I'm sure it'll be fit for a millionaire.

Creak

The sound that came out from the steps makes me shudder. I tried to push it away and hold on Jess. She seemed just as afraid as I was. There are good reasons for us to be afraid too, which are:
1) The old mansion seemed unstable and will probably crushed us to our deaths if we go inside.
2) If someone saw us going in, they'll likely try to stop us from entering and I would have to deal with my aunt.
3) If the rumors are actually true, I don't want to be suffocated with chocolate, even if it is one of my most favorite sweet.

But, as my brother used to say whenever I feel scared, " Grow some balls and do it", which I would replied with, "I would if I could" , I actually feel like his words might be useful this once.

I took a deep breath, glanced at Jess, take the doorknob and slowly opened the door which allegedly have not been opened for over a decade, and take a step inside.
