Crisson stood still awkwardly as he waited for Sam to arrive at the park.
'Maybe I got a little too excited?'
Cris thought. He started overthinking about the possibilities that could go wrong with the date then immediately shooked his head to drive the thoughts away.
Just to Crisson's relief, Sam arrived at the park, looking as gorgeous as ever.
"Have you been waiting long?" Sam said as they fumbled with their fingers.
"No, not not at all." Cris smiled.
"Well lets go? I've got everything planned out," Cris said, excitement clear in his voice.
"Sure!" Sam smiled.
They went on a small stroll around the park, talked about what they can talk about and they even talked and played with the kids at the nearby playground in the park.
Playing with the kids they ended up playing tag as they all ran like nothing else mattered.
One kid tagged Crisson and he tried to target Sam.
"Bet you can't catch me Cris!" Sam laughed as Sam and all the kids started running away from Cris.
Cris, confident in his abilty to run, was about to tag Sam when he tripped over a rock and they both ended up landing on the grass.
Crisson ended up being on top of Sam.
"Gotcha," Cris says with a smirk.
The two were so close to each other.
It kinda felt like the world had stopped to cherish the moment.
They were leaning in when..."Sam is that you?" A voice called out to Sam, making them immediately break the position they were in.
Sam sat up on the grass as they looked up at the voice that called out.
"Jake..?" Sam says in a small voice.
"You know him Sam?" Crisson tried to ask in a less hostile way possible. He was suspicious of the person called Jake.
"He's my ex," Sam whispered in a low voice.
"Looks like you've moved on, huh Sam?" Jake said in a firm voice.
"No..I'm still not over you," Sam replied in a low voice.
"Still blunt as ever. Here you are frolicking in the grass with your new boyfriend and you say you're not over me? Lies," Jake spat.
"Look just leave Sam alone. They clearly don't want you here." Cris stood up from the grass, leveling with Jake.
"Cris, please don't," Sam pleaded.
"So what? I can do whatever I want," Jake's said and stood his ground.
Cris had his fisted his hands and was debating on making a move when Sam placed a hand over his closed fist and looked at him in the eye.
Sam's eyes held so much emotion. Pleading Cris not to start a fight.
Cris surrendered and stared at him straight in the eye with an intense glare then Sam grabbed his hand and dragged him out of the spot.
When they were far away, Sam stared at the grass like it was the most interesting thing in the world and started crying, not being able to hold back the tears no more.
"I- still- like him," Sam said in sobs.
Cris, who was still annoyed by Jake having to drop by and ruin everything, huffed in annoyance.
"Sam," Cris said in a firm voice.
Crisson placed his hands on Sam's shoulders as he continued to comfort Sam.
"You deserve someone better than him," Cris says in a gentle voice.
"Like me."
When Cris had mentioned those words, it made Sam look up at him.
"Sam, I like you. Will you go to prom with me?" Cris asked as he wiped the tears off Sam's face.
"A-are you sure? Don't you want someone else to go with you to prom?-" Sam started rambling asking if it's okay when Cris had held hugged Sam.
"I'm sure. I want to go with you Sam. Please go with me."
"Okay," Sam said as they both held each other tight.
