My name is April Jeanette Mendez brooks also known as aj lee or April brooks. My sign is a Pisces I was born March 19,1987 in union city New Jersey , my height is 1.57.
I have a Puerto Rican descent and I have two older siblings name Erica and Robert it was my brother interest in WWE that influenced me to pursue professional wrestling as a career at the young age of 12 I cemented my decision to become a professional wrestler in 2005 I graduated from memorial high school later on I enrolled at New York university tisch school of the arts to study film and television production and writing but I dropped out of the same in six months i then took up part time jobs to support my family financially and save for an enrollment in a wrestling school
So in 2007 I enrolled in a wrestling school by March I was training under jay lethal that same year in September I made my official entry in the ring under the name miss April , wrestling on the New Jersey independent circuit
In 2008 I joined the New Jersey based promotion women superstars uncensored (WSU) I lost my debut match to Jana I was unable to make it to the inaugural WSU tag team champions I formed a tag team with Brooke carter. In 2009 we captured the tag titles by defeating the beatdown betties
Together with jay lethal I won the 2009 WSU/NWS king and queen ring of the tournament. In may 2009 I left WSU to sign a contract with world Wrestling Entertainment(WWE) assigned to Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW) I made my debut under the ring name April lee in a television match. It was shortly thereafter that I change my ring name to AJ Lee that stuck to me for long
In February 2010 I defeated Serena Mancini to win the queen of FCW title however I could not retain the title for long and lost it to Rosa Mendez in November. In December I bounced back to defeat Naomi for the FCW divas championship title the victory made me the first FCWs female wrestler to win both the titles I held the title until April 2011 finally losing it to aksana
In 2010 I was one of the six participants of the all female third season of NXT with primo as my WWE pro I survived the initial stages but eliminated from the competition in November I accepted the position of raw general manager offered by WWE chairman Vince McMahon in 2012 however my term as a raw general manager was full of complications as Vickie Guerrero and Paul heyman deemed me unfit for the position finally on October 22nd I stepped down from my general managerial duties in 2013 I won't a battle royal to become the number one contender that Kaitlyn divas championship I the defeated Kaitlyn to capture my first divas championship later I participated in the first ever in ring divas championship contract signing for a rematch at money in the bank which I won , I successfully defended my title I lost the mixed tag team match at summerslam to Ziegler and Kaitlyn
In January 2014 I became the longest reigning divas champion surpassing the previous record set by maryse though attempts were made to take away my title I successfully defended them all including the 14 woman match at wrestlemania XXX in April it was the first time that the divas championship had been contested for at the WWE's flagship event
I reign however ended on a tragic note when I lost an impromptu title match after I challenged the debuting Paige the match marked the end of my record breaking reign of 295 days I returned to the ring in June 2014 dismissing tamina I even challenge Paige to An impromptu rematch and this time emerged victorious to capture my second divas championship title I successfully defended the title at battleground but finally lost it to Paige at summerslam in August 2014 in a series of matches that followed from August 2014 I regained the title but lost it almost immediately to Nikki Bella
On March 29,2015 I allied with Paige to fight against the Bella twins at wrestlemania 31 the duo emerged victorious as we successfully battled Nikki and Brie Bella this was my last match as five days later on April 3rd 2015 the WWE made announcement saying my decision for retirement in ring competition
The highlight of my career was my record breaking reign as the divas championship title holder for 295 days I held the title for an overall record for 406 days beating several high profile wrestlers in the title games
I won the diva of the year slammy award in 2012 and 2014
I was voted woman of the year by readers of pro Wrestling Illustrated for an unprecedented three consecutive years from 2012 to 2014 in November of 2011 I began a romantic storyline with Daniel Bryan a world heavyweight championship title holder then the relationship hit the rocks when Bryan blamed me for his loss of the title to sheamus after a good luck kiss by my distraction for Daniel
Distraught by the breakup I turned my affection to Bryan rival and WWE champion CM PUNK and later to another WWE title contender , Kane. Meanwhile Bryan reconciled with me and proposed marriage to me
It was during the exchange of vows of raw 1000 that I left Bryan at the alter to take up a job as raw general manager following this I was involved in romantic storylines with John cena and later with dolph ziggler, both which ended hastily after a series of an on and off relationships I finally married CM PUNK on June 13th 2014
I was an avid animal welfare advocate since 2015 I had served as an ambassador for the American society for the prevention of cruelty to animals (ASPCA)!
