I clutched him tightly as he rode his bike. For what seemed like eternity he drove me to a place unknown to me. As soon as I saw the glittering lights, tall skyscraper, fast cars superseding us I didn't needed to be told where I was. I was smiling gleefully to be back in the city that never sleeps. This must be Manhattan. I wanted to jump from the bike and get lost into the crowd. But that was not the most sensible thing to do now. So I thought of as many ways as I could do be out of this situation.
"Can we take some rest? I'm so tired"
"We're almost there" he said making me groan.
Chuck accelerated as he saw the green light making my breast collide with his back. Asshole. I know he did it on purpose. We stopped under the apartment he told me he lived in. He didn't spare me a glance as he climbed the stairs, he knew I was going nowhere. I held the wooden banister to steady my flight across the cheap carpeted stairs. We reach the first floor and he grunted something, I took my cue and stopped immediately. He took out a key from his pocket and slid it in the door to our left.
The door opened to a tiny passage that leads to a small living room. There was a fireplace that looked hollow without embers in it. Above it was a mantle that accommodated as much whiskey bottles as it could accommodate, a push to one will cause others to fall. The wallpapers were scraped on few places. There was nothing but a couch in the center of the room.
The air around the room was stale and smelled of cheap alcohol. There was a small kitchen on my right. It didn't have much but a fridge, a microwave and some plates in the sink. The island looked barren without any vegetables or fruits on it. I scrunched my nose, I guess Chuck didn't really like to spend his time in the kitchen or living room.
"Go in that room sweetheart and wait for me" He indicated towards the brown gate to my left that looked identical to the wall for it had the same color the wall. He immediately wanted to get to the part he brought me here for, more like I brought him here for.
I wasn't ready for this. I will never be ready for this. A voice in my head screeched RUN again and again. I didn't deserve to be treated this way. There must be some other way, I coerced my brain to think of something. Anything.
"How about we grab something to eat first?" I raised my chin and spoke in a low voice "A satiated me will get you a satiated night" I smirked as I winked. He must have found whatever I did attractive because he laughed and winked me back.
He gave my ass a slap before moving towards kitchen. If I could, I would have scrubbed my ass then and there. I didn't want to be anywhere around him so I decided to move towards the room he asked me. This plain room felt like a cage, like a familiar place and I had no intention to be there at all. There must be something in that room that could help me out with him.
I turned the knob and entered a black space he called room. Everything was black here, the bed sheet and walls and even the floor. It was all black I didn't know how I'd be able to pass the night around this place. The windows were closed too, it reminded of the room I had spent nearly decade in. I wished I had gone for any other thugs than Chuck. I clutched myself as I breathed. I counted and did reverse counting again and again until I could breathe properly.
Sharp rapping diffused in the eerie cold air bringing me out of my hollow space. A knocking, violent knocking. I turn around and stepped out of the room into the living room. It was coming from the main door. The door that brought me into this pathetic looking apartment.
