Madaline walked out of the band room with Olivia, ready to go home when suddenly they spotted a crowd. It was a mix of the jocks and theater kids, which was an odd mix, but they seemed to be enjoying themselves. One of Olivia's friends waved them over, pulling them into the large circle of rowdy teenagers.

"You guys are all coming to the party tonight, right?" Irving Acosta asked, eyeing specifically Elaine. The crowd cheered, showing their interest in participating.

"What do you say, Mads? We going?" Olivia asked, looking over at her caramel-haired friend.

"Sure, why not?" Madaline answered, smiling. Madaline went to the occasional party, the ones that only seem to happen in football season. In all those high school dramas from the '80s, they never showed band kids and theater kids getting invited to parties, but Boring High did things differently. You weren't really a nerd until you were in A/V Club.

"Good thing, Horn. Maybe we can finally get you a boyfriend." Irving smiled cheekily, wrapping his arm lazily around her shoulders. Madaline rolled her eyes, walking with the crowd to all their cars. Olivia was going to give Madaline a ride home, so she could only assume that she was going to give her a ride to this party.

"Madaline, you're going?" Ramona shouted, her body half out of a full car. Madaline turned her attention to the short-haired, dramatic girl. She seemed to be in a decent mood, probably because she had Oliver wrapped around one finger and Mason wrapped around the other.

"Yeah!" Madaline shouted back, pushing her way over to the champaign-colored car.

"Awesome! I'll see you there then." Madaline and Ramona had never particularly been best friends or anything, which is why she was so shocked to hear that Ramona was interested in hanging out. However, Madaline agreed, jogging off to Olivia's car. Kate Messner, someone who Madaline had also never really conversed with, had claimed shotgun. In the back were Elaine and Becka, which left one spot right behind the driver's side for Madaline. Olivia technically shouldn't be driving, as she only had her learners permit, but Boring was a small town, so no one would mind too much.

"Everyone here?" Olivia asked rhetorically. The car started and pulled off, following the line of others who were also attending the party.

Madaline made her way in through the door, music already blaring and kids already grouped up, socializing. One glance over and she already spotted Ramona, at the center of a large, laughing group. The short girl was an attention hog. Madaline also liked being the center of attention, as she was a very funny person. So, consequently, she made her way over to the crowd.

"Madaline, hey!" Ramona hollered, waving her over. Madaline smiled, pushing her way to the center to meet the brunette. The group was mostly the kids from the drama club, with a few exceptions. But, on each side of Ramona, too close to comfort, were Mason and Oliver. Mason wasn't as clingy as Oliver was, but he was clearly about to fight for her attention. Madaline mentally rolled her eyes, not really seeing what was so special about Ramona Earls.

     "Hey!" She greeted, smiling.

"Oh, my God. You played so well tonight." Ramona complemented, smiling. The caramel-haired girl was confused. Ramona had almost sounded sarcastic.

"Thanks, you too!" She replied, smiling.

"C'mon," Ramona urged, smiling. She tugged the taller girl into the sea of her friends, laughing and shouting over the loud music. It was no longer a circle, more of a crowd. Madaline felt pretty out of place here, none of these faces being particularly familiar to her. A few of them she only recognized because of her friends that were in the drama club, but that was about it. She sensed, though, that Ramona wanted something from her. Ramona must've had a reason to be pulling her around like this. After the scene she made at the game, what comes next was unpredictable. Madaline wasn't friends with Ferne, so it couldn't have been that. She also wasn't friends with Oliver or Mason, so she wasn't a common denominator on either side of the equation. The only thing left was if Ramona had something going on with Elaine, Becka, or Olivia, all of which she doubted. If she did, it would've been heard of by now.

Madaline continued to follow Ramona around, greeting people and being included in strange conversations with friends of friends. The had made their way to the back porch and were now sitting at the famous class, translucent table with the black edges. The ones you sit at when you're at a party and babbling about random, nonsensical things at three in the morning. Madaline didn't know where Olivia was at, or if she still had a ride home. She wasn't even fully aware of the time. Next to her was Ramona, who was being quieter than usual. Across from them was Irving Acosta, the host of the party, and Arden Stringer. Arden was friends with Ramona, but they weren't close, and Irving hardly knew the two at all. Everyone at this table was next to strangers to one another, and yet they were having the most philosophical conversation.

Madaline woke up in her own bed, her hair a tangled mess. On the floor was Ramona, a blanket thrown lazily across her. Madaline rubbed her eyes, still tired. At that moment, the brunette that was on the floor sat up, shielding her eyes from the sunlight that peered in from under the white drapes. Surely Madaline didn't invite Ramona Earls to spend the night.

"How did we get to my house?" Madaline asked with a yawn. Ramona glanced up at her, thinking.

"Arden gave us a ride. Olivia went home hours before we even thought about leaving." Ramona informed her, combing her hair with her fingers. Madaline nodded, understanding. It still didn't make much sense in her head why Ramona ended up staying the night, but truthfully, after spending a night with her, she didn't mind the brunette so much.
