Luke’s P.O.V

Today is the first time our band will get to record our songs in a studio, so we’re all pretty excited but also nervous. Our band formed in our last year of high school and we didn’t separate since and a record company noticed our music somehow, gave us a call and told us he’d like to work with us and our music. We we’re overwhelmed with the news and can’t wait to finally be able to produce an album and write our own songs with some professionals.

I go for a quick shower, then getting into my black tight jeans, nirvana shirt and black vans. I walk out of my apartment and down to the café, getting my usual hot chocolate with marshmallows while quickly texting Calum that I’m on my way to the studio. The walk to the studio from my apartment isn’t far at all so it didn’t take me long to get there.

I entered the studio with the boys and almost instantly I was greeted by a group of producers. They explained our schedule today, nothing major – just a few demo vocals and instrumentals.

We’re each given a piece of paper with lyrics and guitar chords for one of our new songs – Never Be. I skim through the printed piece of paper, softly humming to the tune. We enter the recording booth, our voices all chorusing together.

"Oh whoa oh, oh oh oh

Oh whoa whoa oh

Oh whoa oh, oh oh oh

Oh whoa whoa oh

I need your love to light up this house

I wanna know what you’re all about

I wanna feel you feel you tonight

I wanna tell you that it’s alright"

A woman walks in with I presume is our refreshments, I immediately recognise her brunette locks and chocolate eyes that could easily be spotted from a mile away. She looks up, listening to the song as she taps her foot on the floor. Her cola eyes interlock with mine, her eyebrows furrowing as she slightly tilts her head in confusion. You can see a twinkle of happiness in her pupils, her pearly white smile being fired in my direction. We exchange a few smiles before she leaves, setting a mental note to search for the mysterious girl after our session. Her eyes manage to steal a look from me, and I can't help but admire her beauty.

"I need your love to guide me back home

When I’m with you, I’m never alone

I need to feel you feel you tonight

I need to tell you its alright"

"Great job boys, I'll see you next week." One of the producers say, our recorded voices chiming throughout the little studio. I remove my headphones and instantly jolt out of the studio and start sprinting to the cafe downstairs, the one where she works at.

I examine the modern cafe, finding empty tables and chairs. I can slowly feel my heart sinking to my feet, that little speck of hope of her being here, diminished.

I begin to walk out of the empty Cafe, spotting a black wallet on the nearest table to the door. I hesitate before opening the wallet, a photo of young children and..... Her.

I walk over to the elevator and as I’m about to press the button it opens, revealing the girl I’ve been so curious about.

She was frantically searching through her sea of belongings in that bag of hers, probably searching for her wallet. I could sense her stress within the space between us, her forehead creasing.

“I believe you may have left something behind miss.” I smile, taking a step into the elevator as I hand her the black leather wallet.

She lets out a relieved sigh as I hand over her wallet, her face slowly draining back with colour.  The elevator dings, signaling we’ve reached the designated floor.

I look at her before she begins to head out of the elevator, as she stops dead in her tracks between the doors to prevent it from closing.

"Thank you so much for this by the way," she grins, pointing to her wallet.

“It’s nothing, really.” I half smile, admiring the way she looks down and puts a strand of hair behind her ear when she’s shy.

“Anyway, I’ve gotta get going. See you next time yeah?” She gives a soft smile.

“Yeah, see you next time.” I smirk.

I watch her exit the door, her brown locks slowly swaying as she walks. I bite my lip and tug on my lip ring as the doors slowly close. Before I know it, I'm sprinting out of the small compact transportation, running to the intriguing girl.

“Wait! I didn’t catch your name” I shout whilst running up to her.

She lightly chuckles at my uneven breathing, my hands on my knees as I try to regain my breath.

"Lily” She says, holding out her hand for me to shake.

“Luke”, I smile and shake her hand. She tucks a strand of hair behind her ear once again, doing that shy gesture she does.

God damn. Who would've known that a guy could be hooked from day one.
