Love and other complications

'I love you'

I woke up with Diego's hand across my face. We had fallen asleep on the sofa together. I grunted as I moved Diego's arm out of my face.

"Diego. Pssst! Diego!" I pushed my fingers into his stomach as hard as I could to make him jump. He was a deep sleeper.

"Morning beautiful." He grunted as he sat up beside me.

"You're so funny!" I said as I hid my face with my hands. I hadn't even brushed my hair or anything yet.

Diego put his arm around me and carefully moved my hands. "I wasn't joking" he whispered as he slowly kissed me on the lips. I smiled as I kissed him back, I fell on top of him and ended up flattening him to the sofa.

"Jeez, what have you been eating?" He grunted.

I playfully hit his arm. "Well, I obviously haven't been eating the same as you!" I reply as I poke his muscles.

"I work out." He replied as he lifted his arm in the air to show off the muscles.

"Gosh, you're so... So..." I couldn't find the right words.

"hot? Sexy? Handsome?" He winked.

"No...no...I was going to say..."

Before I could finish my sentence Diego started to tickle me.

"Choose your words wisely!" He laughed.

I choked and screamed as I tired to squirm out of his reach, but he pulled me back and continue to tickle my ribs.

"I was going to say perfect! You're so perfect!" I laughed.

Diego laughed and carried on tickling me. "See, this is why I love you!"

Diego stopped tickling me and I turned to face him, I stared him straight in the eyes. That was the first time he'd ever said that to me.

"You what?" I stuttered. I wasn't sure if it was just something he said in the moment or if he meant it.

He just smiled and ran his fingers across my cheeks. "I love you María Clara Pancha Alonso."

I hate it when people use my whole name, but I couldn't help but smile at the way he said it.

I sat on his knee and put my hands around his neck. I fit my head on his shoulders and he held me tight.

"I love you too." I slowly whispered. He replied by kissing me on the head and holding me tighter.

We had to get ready to go to work, but I really wanted to stay in that moment forever.
