~Third Person POV~
The lights shone brightly over the two young boys. They were sprawled out in the vibrant grassy hill shoulders almost touching. The thin blonde kept sneaking glances towards the freckled boy, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. Yamaguchi loved the stars, he had been fascinated by them since he was a child, don't get me wrong, Tsukishima liked the stars too, but for a different reason. Tsukishima sat up and peered down at his friend, eyeing the soft freckled cheeks before him, freckles mirroring that of the stars in the night sky. His heart squeezed tightly within his chest, Yamaguchi was truly beautiful. Clearing his throat, Yamaguchi's dark eyes drifted towards Tsukishima's golden eyes and a bright smile made its way to his face.
"We should probably head back, it's getting kind of chilly." The blonde's voice was smooth and alluring. As much as Yamaguchi wanted to stay out under the tranquility of the stars, he knew his friend had a point, it was already incredibly late, and a bit more than chilly.
~Tsukishima's POV~
We'd spent hours laying out watching the stars, something they often did. Sometimes in comfortable silence, like tonight, or other times talking the night away. After I'd managed to convince Yamaguchi that we should head home, I suggested he stay at my place for the night, my family wasn't in after all, we would have the house to ourselves.
Somehow Yamaguchi seemed to still have energy and practically demanded we watch a movie to close out our night. Being weak to everything about that boy I quickly gave in. Popping some anime movie, we'd likely watched over a hundred times by now we settled into the spaces we usually occupied. With my elbow propped on the left-hand armrest of the couch I watched the images on the screen dully, hardly keeping my eyes open, much less register the plot or storyline.
Fighting the sleep from my eyes, as my eyelids threatened to close, I stole a glance at the smaller boy, who was firmly pressed against my side, and fast asleep. A gentle sigh slipped from my lips, not surprised he was asleep in the slightest. Scooping the boy I'd grown up with into my arms he nuzzled into my boney chest as I padded my way to my bedroom.
Easing Yamaguchi down onto the mattress before slipping myself under the blankets on the other side of the bed, warmth surrounded me. Whenever Yamaguchi was nearby I felt more at peace, sleep was quick to pull at my conscious. A weight draped itself across my body and seemed to pull itself tightly against me. The last thing I remember was the smell of brown sugar and cinnamon wafting around me.
~Yamaguchi's POV~
Sunlight agitated my eyes and forced me awake. Annoyed by the early awakening a gentle whine emanated from my throat, but it was cut short when strong arms pulled me back. I was snuggled tightly against Tsukishima's chest and his face was nuzzled against the nape of my neck. Slight panic bubbled up in my chest, not because I was scared, but because I was immensely happy about being held by Tsukki, being held like I was something precious to him. Riddled with guilt from enjoying being in my best friends embrace, I began to wiggle trying to break away from his hold. A gentle groan escaped Tsukki, my movement agitating his slumber. He pulled me even tighter against him, causing a deep blush to creep across my cheeks.
"Good morning, Yamaguchi." His voice was deep and husky, still riddled with sleepiness. The heat on my face only deepened. Tsukki always managed to pull on my heart strings, he isn't aware of the effect he has on me, how much I love him.
"Tsukki," I stumbled on my words, nervous that my crush and childhood friend was holding me so close to him. "Morning."
"Mm, you smell good." His voice seemed to drop an even lower, dripping with desire. My heart fluttered before realization set in. With a sudden burst of strength, I flung his arms off of me and I scrambled into the bathroom, locking the door behind me.
My breath was coming out in short, raspy bursts. Caught up in my desire for Tsukki I'd forgotten that he was still an Alpha, and surly my suppressants had worn off over the night. You smell good. A shiver ran down my spine, I liked hearing that from Tsukki, but it was just his alpha talking to my omega, not Tsukki to me. He was the only person outside of my family who knew my dynamic, but I still didn't like showing that side of me to Tsukki, who has always been a strong and cool individual, nothing weak about him. I don't want him to see me as a weak omega.
After choking down suppressant pills I unlocked the bathroom door and made my way back to where I'd left Tsukki. I expected him to be sleeping still, but I was shocked he was sitting on the edge of the bed with his head dropping in his slender hands. The sound of me reemerging in the room caused him to look in my direction. He looked upset, that had to be my imagination, right?
"Yamaguchi are you alright?" The huskiness in Tsukki's voice was replaced with concern and worry, something I am not used to hearing from my snarky and confident best friend. He wasn't sitting on the edge of the bed for long, he was suddenly closing the gap between us. With the gap closed he reached out to touch my shoulder, but the hesitation was clear. Giving a curt nod of approval, his hand fell on my shoulder. The weight was oddly comforting, I wanted nothing more than to fall into him and indulge in his touch. "Did I upset you?" His voice held a tone of being broken, almost regretful.
"No, Tsukki, never." Taken back by his words I flinched slightly.
"I just," a crack in his voice broke up his sentence, clearly struggling to get out what he felt needed to be said, "I like you a lot, even before you presented, but when it comes to your omega aspects, they make it even harder for me to resist my attraction to you." Dropping his hand off my shoulder, head hanging slightly. The heat began to rise to my cheeks again and the fluttering of my heart picked up again. What did Tsukki just say? My brain was reeling, struggling to understand the words that hung between us.
Clearly uncomfortable, Tsukki shifted his weight from foot to foot. Did he just say what I think he said? My mind was full of a fog, I couldn't process anything anymore. The feelings I had for Tsukki were overwhelming.
"Before I presented?" My voice was weak, basically a whisper.
~Tsukishima's POV~
The words slipped out before I could stop myself. I like you a lot, even before you presented. My heart began to race, and my chest tightened as I watched my best friend processing my words. He looked like I'd just punched him. His usually bright brown eyes were open impossibly wide and held an expression I can only describe as fear and shock. Panic began to course throughout my body, I'd just messed it up, didn't I? If Yamaguchi doesn't feel the same how could we go back to the comfortable friendship we'd carried since children?
Shifting uncomfortably, I struggled to find something to say, to back track. Keeping my eyes locked on the ground I willed myself to disappear. How could I be so stupid? The last thing I wanted was to scare Yamaguchi or make him believe I liked him just because he's an omega. My mind was reeling, but Yamaguchi's voice pulled me out of my haze.
"Tsukki," Bringing my eyes off the ground between us I found tears streaming down his freckled cheeks, "I love you." I almost didn't catch what he'd said through his sobs. I love you. Yamaguchi, loves me? He feels the same? Brown eyes met my own golden eyes and a small smile crept onto his face as he sniffled and wiped stubbornly at his tears.
Slim arms suddenly clamped around my waist and my rumpled t-shirt shirt began to collect the moisture from the smaller boy's face. Without thinking one hand coiled around his waist and the other twisted itself into his green/brown hair, stroking gently, desperate for the distress Yamaguchi was feeling to subside.
Carefully, I pulled away just enough, so our eyes could once again meet. Flashing a crooked smile at Yamaguchi I leaned down slowly before my lips found their target. There was no resistance from Yamaguchi, in fact his lips seemed to mold themselves against my own, exploring cautiously.
