"Hey, Dad, I'm leaving now," grabbing a piece of toast off the counter while slipping my backpack over my shoulders and rushing through the door. I still could here what my dad said even though I had already reached half way through the front door, "Don't be home late," I rolled my eyes and just laughed. Mumbling to myself, " Am I ever."

I slowly made my way down the street heading towards the park. I always leave the house and hour early just to come here before I go to school. I've been doing this from my mom past away which was when I around ten. This was her favorite place, whenever she'd have too much on her mind she would just come here whether day or night and just sit for hours until she felt better. She said the atmosphere calmed her down and cleared her mind.

I took my regular place under the sycamore tree, right in the centre of the park. It's branches hanging low over my head. The cool breeze whisking through the leaves and the sun trying to find its way through the tiny spaces. I usually sit and think about everything and anything. Prepare myself for rest of the day and try to keep my cool.

Placing my earphones in my ear and leaning against the branch of the tree, I sat they're listening to the lyrics of the song that I play on a continuous loop.

                "Hey,"

I took out my right earphone and opened my eyes, and to my disappointment no one was there. So, I put the earphone back in my ear and closed my eyes once again.

My eyelids became dark, like something or someone was blocking the sunlight. I opened my eyes to see a sweet little girl standing in front of me, about five or so years old. She had fresh tear stains on her cheek and her eyes were red from crying. She was shivering and taking deep breaths, she must have been crying for awhile now.

I quickly got up and hushed her, slowly rubbing her back. I asked her where her parents and she started crying again, guess that's my answer.

"Hey, hey don't cry," trying my best to calm her down. I needed to find out where they were. But I felt the need to cheer her up first.

"Okay sweetie, get on my back," she hesitated.

"It's okay, you like piggy back rides?"

She gave me a smile and nodded, she never once said a word but it was enough for me to know that I was heading somewhere. I bent down on my knees and turned by back to her. "Hop on," she complied happily to my request. She wrapped her little arms around my neck and trying to make her feet touch around my stomach but that was a fail. So I had to support her legs by holding them.

"What's your name?" I asked trying to get as much information as possible. While heading in the direction of the ice-cream shop across the street. It was just an instinct to give her ice-cream. It used to always cheer me up. Hey it still does.

"H-Haley," she replied, still taking in small breaths at a time, trying to recover from the strains of crying. I could feel her breathing down my neck but I tried my hardest to ignore it.

"Okay Haley, I'm going to buy you some ice-cream, you like ice-cream?," I said softly.

I mean which little kid doesn't like ice-cream that's just..insane.

Maybe they're allergic or something.....stop that. Mentally arguing with myself.

"And then help you look for your parents, okay?" she nodded in reply.
