The difference between school and life? In school, you’re taught a lesson and then given a test. In life, you’re given a test that teaches you a lesson.

MONDAY:

The sound of ringing from your alarm off your phone is what everyone – not every student – but everyone, hates. It indicates that it’s the beginning of the week and you have to go to the worst building ever – school. That means encountering all the shit, like bitchiness coming from the ‘popular girls’ group and guys from the football team walking around like they own the place – why do you feel so proud if you own the god damn school? Its school – calm your steroid full yet empty minds.

I groggily get out of bed (basically picture me like Anna getting out of bed in Frozen – haven’t watched it? Google image it) I go to the bathroom, brush my teeth and wash my face then smile in the mirror. It helps make me feel positive and not be depressed as it’s just another normal day and I should just stay happy. I try find a good outfit for the first day back for the last year of high school and decide in the end to go with black skinny jeans, pair of black Vans (yes I am a Vans girl) and a white vest top which had the words ‘I NEVER LIKED YOU ANYWAY’ printed on the front – suited for where I was going. I brush my hair and leave it out as it’s naturally curly and lightly apply foundation, mascara and pink lip gloss.

I get downstairs and find Xavier in the kitchen eating breakfast. We greet each other with a nod and I go to find something breakfast worthy. Since it’s a Monday morning we both know we hate talking this early so we follow routine: eat breakfast and then get in his car for him to drop me off. When we get inside the car he kept looking back as if he’s waiting – for someone.

I look at him and ask “Dude, what are you waiting for?”

“You mean who, and Damian.”

My eyes widen. I look at the rear view mirror and see him strolling towards our car.

“Why?! Can’t he get to school on his own?” I ask hesitantly.

As I ask that the door opens behind me and a voice answers “Nope because no one is here to take me except your awesome, kind brother.”

I roll my eyes.  “There’s something called a bus?”

He mimics “There’s something called sharing is caring.” From the corner of my eye I see Xavier holding in a smile.

“There is something called...” I turn around hold my middle finger up and whisper “…shut the fuck up.” He kept smiling at me. This motherfu-

“ALRIGHT! Shut up both of you before I kick you both out so far you wouldn’t know where you are!” and he turned up the music.

~^.^_^.^~

As soon as he drops us off I start walking so Damian doesn’t catch up, but because of his lanky legs he does. I look back to see him smirking at me so I ask “why do you keep smiling at me?! It’s kind of weird…”

“But you wouldn’t have me any other way.”

“But having you smile around me and breathing down my neck is annoying.” I stopped and so did he.

He looked into my eyes “You know you like it. Or hopefully you will.”

“You're so lame that I cry myself to sleep most nights.”
