-----------------------------------------

I'm holding on,

To a dream,

That will never become reality.

I'm grasping on,

To a memory,

That I forgot so long ago.

I'm trying to see,

Past the stars,

That once lied to me.

My feelings for the world,

Is enclosed within my heart.

Regret,

Remorse,

Anger,

And sorrow.

I wonder,

Why must humans feel them?

Chapter 25

"Milady?" someone called from the other side of the door. "Are you there?" A series of knocking followed.

"Uhn," I groaned and sat up, rubbing my eyes to wake up. "Yeah?"

"Master- I mean, C-Corporal Levi wishes t-to see you i-i-immediately," the voice that belonged to Demy answered.

"Tell him to wait until I feel happy and energetic. I feel like a retarded turtle right now," I ordered. That was maybe the first order I ever gave Demy to do. I instantly felt horrible.

"Wait! I mean, never mind. It's my own family problem. I'll go tell him," I quickly said, cursing myself in my head. I seriously need to watch my words more carefully from now on.

"P-Please don't worry, Y-Young M-Mistress!" Demy's squeaky voice immediately said. "It's my j-job to do, so p-p-please rest! I'll b-be going n-n-now!" And with that, she ran off, her heels clicking repeatedly behind her.

I stared at the door like an idiot. I hope Demy won't hate me now, I prayed silently in my head. I can't bare to lose anymore friends that I already have.

I sighed loudly and stood up. I pulled on my shoes and adjusted my uniform so that I don't look like a moose who just came out of a lake. I combed my hair and inserted gel into it. I have no idea why, but my hair, as my doctor stated, needs adjustments. Whatever that means.

I yawned and stretched my arms. Time to go see my dad, regardless the fact I still don't feel happy and full of life yet. Instead, I feel lousy and sleepy. Close enough.

I opened the door and poked my head out. I looked right and left.

Seeing that no one was in the hallways, I sighed in relief and began to walk down to my dad's office. It just so happened that his room was 5 rooms down from mine.

I reached his door and stood awkwardly in front of it.

Why does he need to see me? Does he need something? I hope it isn't cleaning the entire HQ.

My thoughts were running wildly in my head when someone gently tapped my shoulder.

I whipped my head around in alarm and saw that it was only Erwin.

"Hello there, Karen," he said softly in a melodic voice. "Are you here to see Corporal Levi, your father?"

"Um, yes," I replied nervously. "It's just, I'm deciding whether I should open the door and get the job of cleaning the entire HQ until my arms and hands go limp or to run away back to my room and hide there until he breaks down the door and pull me out from under my bed. Both options sound horrible."

Erwin laughed heartedly.

"Don't worry about it," he told me. "I assume that the Corporal just wants to talk to you. However, if he does command you to clean the entire HQ, you can always call me over and I'll help you."

"T-Thanks," I said, blushing.

Erwin smiled and gave me a nod.

"Well, I'm off now. I need to finish some paperwork," he explained.

"Of course, sir! Sorry to bother you!" I said with formality and raised my fist to my heart in the salute. I completely forgot that he was the Commander of the Survey Corps and I was just a Cadet with Dad issues.

Erwin smiled one last time and walked away.

"Who's out there?" I cold hearted voice boomed from the other side of the door. "I can hear you, you know. You two idiots were really loud. Quiet it down. I have things to do."

I rolled my eyes.

"It's me, Dad," I said with a boring voice. "What is it that you need? If it has to do anything with cleaning, I'm just going to leave a mop, a duster, a rag, and 5 packs of Windex by your door. You're doing the cleaning. Not me."

The door banged open and my dad, with the angriest face on the planet, appeared by the door frame. He crossed his arms and leaned onto the frame.

"Who were you talking to?" he asked airily.

"Erwin," I said. Levi narrowed his eyes.

"Erwin? What did he say to you?" his voice came out with cautiousness as if he was afraid of something.

"He was just seeing whether I'm alright or not. Nothing big," I said with a straight face. What does he need to know anyway?

"Still not over that yet, huh?" Levi muttered under his breath in almost a whisper, but I heard it.

"What was that?" I asked him. "What do you mean by he's 'Still not over yet'?"

Levi stared at me and for the first time, I detected a hint of sadness in his eyes. They seemed far away in thought.

Levi snapped back to reality when he heard my question.

"Never mind," he said gruffly. "Just go back to your room."

"But I just got here!" I complained.

Levi gave me that parent look when they are being 'serious'.

"Go. Back. To. Your. Room," he said every word slowly and emphasized each and every syllable.

"Fine," I huffed and turned on my heel to leave. So much for coming. I should of stayed in my room.

Half way, Levi called out,"And don't you ever talk to him ever again! You hear? That's an order, cadet!"

I froze in my tracks.

"Why?!" I yelled and turned back to face him, but he was gone. Back into his office maybe.

"Fine then," I said through gritted teeth. "I see how it is. I'm not taking any crappy orders from you anymore. I can talk to anyone that I like. And you can't stop me."

With that, I turned back around and stomped back to my room, the entire way thinking about what just happened there.
