I open the doors flamboyantly as I walk into the small coffee shop, its upbeat guitar music filling my lungs. The smell of strong black coffee instantly hits my nose, followed by the scent of freshly baked dough. My stomach rumbles in response.

I decided to wear a Theory sweater, its asymmetrical designs echoing the lack of symmetry in my life. I paired it off with black cropped pants I got from Rag and Bones, and chose my Comme Des Garçons sneakers for shoes.

I gently lift my black Dior sunglasses at the close of the crystalline doors behind me. The coffee shop is quite sparing today. Typically the shop brims with unruly students and adults, ready to cut a bitch for a cup of coffee. I look around and spot Tiana and Rosie chatting with one another at our usual spot in the corner.

"I'm here bitches," I announce as I walk towards my seat.

Tiana swivels around, her sleek black ponytail slapping Rosie right across the cheek.

"Oh, my god, hi!" Tiana exclaims. "I haven't seen you all summer!"

"How was Japan?" I ask her as we embrace.

"It was great! Got to meet a lot of cute Japanese guys. Oh, and the ramen was HEAVENLY!"

Tiana spent her months in Japan this summer, participating in an internship for the New York Times where she covers topics of ongoing problems in modern day Japan. She plans to become a journalist.

As Tiana pulls away, I notice her stunning Versace floral button down, cinched with a Versace black leather skirt. For shoes, she's rocking a pair of fur Gucci sneakers, and for accessories, her midnight black glasses and a wool Yves Saint Laurent purse.

I then shift my attention to Rosie who is brimming with excitement

I then shift my attention to Rosie who is brimming with excitement.

"Rylaaaaaanddddd", she squeals as she hugs me.

"Yes?" I answer with a giggle.

"Omg, I have so much to tell you about this new boy I met over the summer. Ugh, you're just gonna love him."

"So I've heard," I reply as we both take our seats.

Tiana rolls her eyes, and comments, "She won't shut up about him."
