Narrator: No one in the Glade ever had the strength of this attacker, since there was never anything to fight up against due to Hunter keeping them safe within the Glade. No one except Kyle knew better, since from this day on everything was going to change for Kyle, for better or for worse.

(attacker): *still grabbing onto Hunter and the girl, turns his attention towards Kyle approaching him* Care to join the fun, rather inside the Maze?

Kyle: *closes in on him and quickly snatches the girl away from him for her to run away before she was pushed into the Maze, then jumps onto the attacker to roll him onto the ground, releasing his hand off Hunter and the Maze Doors were closed at last*

(attacker): *starts clawing at Kyle and growling but somehow gets up* Fool!

Kyle: *gets up as soon as the attacker charges towards him, but sidesteps and quickly kicks him at the back of his leg to collapse* Now, let's see if I can knock some sense into you. *almost delivers a punch at his face until Hunter comes out of nowhere, ruining the moment by headlocking the attacker until he was out of breath*

Hunter: *drops the unconscious guy* No hurting our members here Kyle.

Kyle: But you just.

Hunter: Again. I've told you many times before. I'm the protector of these people. No one else. Not even you.

Kyle: But I saved you from dying. I know how much these teens would need you for survival, so you need to live.

Hunter: Ah. I was only catching him off guard by acting like I was dying. Had you not intervened, I would've had him right there.

Kyle: But-

Hunter: That is enough. It's about time you showed what you can do for me here. Let's start with cleaning up the Diner. Dinner is finished and there's a whole lot of mess in there.

Kyle: *sighs and heads off from what seemed humiliating to him* Fine!

Narrator: Nighttime eventually came after hours of cleaning up the Diner. Kyle finally wanted to show everyone what he was good at: combat. But Hunter, as always, ruined the chance, intervening by finishing off the attacker. The poor crazed but tough teen was placed restrained to a bed in the medical room to be banished tomorrow for his 'crimes' of harming someone within the Glade. Everyone slept inside the Hangout within the Hut, wide enough to hold all 45 teens within the Glade. Kyle made his way out into the woods where he rested upon the hammock where he slept, away from the others. But much to his surprise, again he wasn't alone.

Marcus: Ah. So this is where you rest.

Kyle: Yes. Dude, why are you here? *takes off a sack hanging from a nearby tree that kept tools inside*

Marcus: What's in there?

Kyle: Nothing important. Y'know I'd like to have my privacy here. *sighs and looks up at the sky whilst listening to the Maze sounds at night*

Marcus: What's wrong? You still wanna share with me what you've been up to here, right?

Kyle: *sighs and sits upright to tell him the truth* Okay. Well here's the thing. All the teens out here don't pay much attention to me because I spend all my time alone. And what I do out here would make a person think I'm weird because I have nothing to fight around. After all, no one here has nothing to go up against. No Critters, no crazed people coming up from within the Maze to attack us, until today, and so our Glade is normally safe. Me on the other hand, I hang out here in the forest making dummies and other stuff to put into use the combat skills I have.

Marcus: But why put use some fighting skills if there's nothing to stand against here in the Glade?

Kyle: *leans forward to Marcus so he can listen closely* The truth is... I've always had these skills. Ever since I came up in the Lift or Box or whatever, I've always had these abilities. And here's what I'm trying to say. My point is, maybe whoever I was before the Maze made me like this. And I do not know how, obviously. So now, I'm finding a way to use these skills and improve on them, and that way I'll stand out and help protect these people someday.
