Nathan

When I met Harrison he was normal.

Normal as in weird, like any other kid. He had a weird obsession with rocks and never stopped drawing in class. I guess that was how we became friends. We'd be somewhere in a corner of the playground being outcasts together.

Then we grew up. Everyone did. Some people stayed friends and others drifted apart. Harrison and I were a different story—we turned against each other. I don't remember what cut the cord of friendship, but his attitude changed. He became an asshole, to put it simple.

Raelyn, somehow, was caught up with the idea of him. I thought back to the days when she said she wanted to know him, how she needed help, and I couldn't wrap my head around why. I knew she wanted to help Harrison, but everyone knew he was a lost case.

Him, blacked-out-drunk, in someone else's bedroom proved it. Oliver and Aiden, the hosts of the party, would've been pissed if they found him in one of their rooms, but, Raelyn had a heart.

And she forced me to carry the bastard out.

"You think nobody is going to question us?" I asked, struggling to keep Harrison propped up from behind me.

Raelyn peeped through the door and into the hallway, checking if the coast was clear.

"Not really. It's not the biggest stunt he pulled."

She led me through the hall before abruptly turning around just before the stairs. Her lips curved into a wide smile and she laughed. For a second, I forgot there was a 150 pound piece of shit on my back.

Raelyn sobered up before saying, "You guys look comfy." It was an unnecessary comment, but one that made her laugh louder than before.

"I'm sure he does, can't say the same for myself."

Before she could respond, two girls walked up the stairs. Their eyes landed on us and the conversation between them was cut short.

"Is that—wait, what the heck?"

One of them was freaking out while the other gave me the stink eye. I don't know what I did to become the bad guy.

"He died—I mean, wait." Raelyn kept rambling on. "He will die. Wait, no, that sounds worse. Sorry, um...Nathan?"

"Nice one, Rae. Sure cleared things up real nice."

She rolled her eyes. "Help me, now."
