With stories and fictional characters regarding the subject of depression and other mental illnesses, it became normalcy.

You'd expect that this would be a good thing, right? Well...it's not.

The more people romanticize mental issues the less people take it seriously and well, the harder it becomes for people to reach out for help and talk out their feelings.

Talking loudly in a fast manner inside an empty room to seemingly nobody at all when you're usually quiet beside people.

Claiming that you're only being realistic while beating your self worth down.

Taking off your frustration and emptiness on writing your psyche in the form of fictional characters.

Of course, these seem WAY safer than therapy will ever be.

After all, telling a complete stranger your feelings is a scary thought when your closest friend, laughed nervously and shifted uncomfortably each time you try talking about them, meanwhile they're constantly trying to change the subject.

After all, you're expected to be the patient one, the kind one that acts as someone's personal 'cheer up buddy' or psychologist despite being quiet with big groups of people.

With smaller groups of two or one person, you are quite the professional at cheering others up.

And It would get awkward if the therapist becomes the patient, right?

Well you don't care about that anymore.

You've always been quiet around big groups of friends so no one noticed, but recently when someone sits down, talking about their problems or all around; themselves, your lack of attention was quite noticeable.

Your friends started to get worried now, but you didn't exactly care, you were too tired to think. This annoying thing started to happen in which your mind stopped functioning, its not like you were daydreaming or zoning out.

Your brain stops working unintentionally.

It was annoying, but strangely relaxing, it felt like you were allowed to escape reality and you didn't need to build another one to do so, like being on a coma or something and in a way, it felt nice.

What didn't feel nice; is that the number one prankster in the school has got an interest in you, probably for being an easy target from staring blankly at the fucking wall until you find your face colored with purple paint to believing what others say more than yourself because of your lack of attention.

It has gotten easier and easier to lie to you and trick you which was frustrating.

And as annoying as it was, it felt threatening in a way...this person was willingly putting you on guard, taking your new escape mechanism away from you.

Yeah, you weren't having it-

"HONEY~"

Sigh.

"Wakey wakey~ eggs and bakey~ are you done staring at the wall? Now I know that you're lovestruck but tone it down already!"

"..."

"Heeyyy!! Are you listening to me??!"

"Uhm-- y-yeah...!"

"Then what was I talking about?"

"Something about a wall...are you talking about America's new president stuff or...?"

"Eeexactly! Wow you listened for once! Take a breath, give yourself a pat on the back! Here's your prize!" A bottle of grape orange flavored soda was pushed into your hands so roughly that you had no problem with catching it.
