You meeting Harry was a chance encounter that could be attributed to several things, but mostly it was because he was absolutely horrible at wrapping gifts. Although he's known that for awhile, he didn't acknowledge it until it was absolutely necessary.
It was about a year ago that he was walking as fast as he could through the the mall in London. He's got on a beanie and a hoodie, face down and eyes focused on his boots. He's got a shopping bag in his left hand and his phone in his right as he holds it up to his ear.
"Gem, c'mon, just once mo'," Harry pleads in a rushed tone, hoping his older sister will cave.
Instead, he hears her snort into the line. "Harry, you're a grown man. You need to learn to wrap your own gifts."
Harry leans in towards the wall when he lifts his gaze slightly to see a mother struggling to keep both her kids focused on their pathway, letting them shrink by through the large space before he resumes his fast paced walk. "I will, I swear. Just don't have time t'today. You can help me out one more time, can't yeh?"
"Harry, no. I really do have work to get done," Gemma says with a sigh.
Harry licks his lips, trying to think of what to do. Sure, he could ask his mother to do it but then he'd have to deal with a much more severe teasing. "Alright, fine. But I need to get this done today. Dunno what t'do, Gemma." He's put the actual wrapping of the gift off until the very last moment, but now he's run out of time. It's quite an important gift.
"You're at the mall closest to the house?" Gemma asks him.
"Yeah," Harry mumbles. He stops, shuffling to the side and out of the way of other holiday shoppers. He's not come with security, perhaps a grave mistake on his part, but so far nobody has recognized him and he doesn't intend on being here for long.
"Oh good. Go up to the second floor, third shop on the left- right past the coffee stand. There's a nifty little crafting shop there. They sell wrapping paper, so I reckon they'd wrap as well," Gemma says.
Harry glances around himself, lifting his head just slightly to get a view of where he has run off too with his determined walking. He can see the coffee stand just a few paces behind him.
"Got it. Thanks Gem," Harry mutters. He adds a quick goodbye and then takes off towards the shop his sister described.
Harry opens the door to the small shop and lifts his head, pushing his beanie and hoodie up as his green eyes take the quaint place in. He's never been in here before, nor does he know how long it's been in the mall. But his sister, as per usual, had been right. There's rolls and ladders full of different colored wrapping paper, ribbons, and tags. He can spot every color of the rainbow, and there are many holiday patterned ones in the tub next to the door- he feels like he'd need an hour alone to get a proper look at all the designs.
"Hi there. Can I help you find anything?"
Harry tears his gaze away from the paper to turn to you. You're wearing a green apron that's got pockets on the front, and he can see a pair of scissors sticking out of one of them and a packet of tape in the other. But that only registers in his mind for a brief moment, because his gaze focuses on your features. You're sporting a gentle smile that makes him feel like he's home at his mum's, and not in a shop during the holiday rush. Your eyes are what catch him next, bright and big- shining at the opportunity to help him. Perhaps it's because the month of December has just started, but you don't seem like a hunkered down holiday retail employee.
"Oh, uh, yeah. Can yeh wrap a gift fo' me, please?" Harry asks, once he finds his voice. He lifts the shopping bag in the air.
"I can, yes," you say with a nod, reaching forward for the bag.
