I turn off the water in the shower, grab my towel and slowly step out, refreshed and ecstatic for what the night had in store. I giggled to myself, completely overrun with giddy anticipation. Kelly, my best friend since 6th grade was drying her hair in my bathroom vanity and grinning wildly at me from the mirror. "Tonight's the night!" She exclaimed, tilting her head to the left, and running a brush through it. "I can't believe this is really happening!!" I practically squealed. It was the nearing the end of summer after our senior year, we were both 18, and tonight we were finally going to see One Direction in concert. We have been waiting for this night all summer, determined that it would be the best of our lives before we went off to different colleges next week. "You better hurry up! Mike will be here in an hour!" Kelly urged.
My eyes went wide as I realized how much I needed to get done to make sure I looked flawless for the concert of a lifetime. Mike, my boyfriend of a little over a year was going to be here to pick us up on an HOUR. Shit! I scampered out of the bathroom to my bed where I had laid out the absolute perfect outfit for tonight. I dropped my towel and put on my sexy black lace panties and bra, knowing nobody would see them, but they made me feel confident.
I quickly stepped into my jean cut off shorts and the cropped tank top I had made, printed with half a British flag and half an Irish flag. I walked over to my full length mirror and analyzed my reflection. I was ordinary, nothing special really, but at least I had a cute shirt. I smiled to myself before realizing I was dawdling, I still had to apply makeup, and figure out what to do with my mess of hair.
I galloped into my bathroom where Kelly was nearly done drying her hair and decided to apply some base makeup while waiting for the dryer, after all, I needed my makeup to last the whole night if we planned on stalking the boys at the hotel afterwards. I'd found out where the boys were staying for the next week, as this was their last show before they headed back home, and I'd convinced my mom to let us stay there for a couple nights. She reluctantly agreed we were 18 and she gave me the tickets and such for my birthday. Normally, my mom would flip if I told her I was getting a hotel with Mike, but my mom loved him, and Kelly would be staying with us. I loved the relationship we all had, we'd all been real close since freshman year, and Mike and I started dating last summer but Kelly was so supportive and didn't make anything awkward at all. We told each other everything, and I wouldn't have it any other way. "30 minutes!" Kelly chimed in as she handed me the dryer. I started combing through and drying my hair, as my thoughts began to wander yet again. I was so lucky to have a boyfriend that loved me enough to see a boy band together. 'Consider this part of my anniversary gift to you.' I remember he said when he told me he agreed to go. We'd just had our one-year 2 weeks ago and he made me so happy.
I turned the dryer off and brushed my hair through, and plugged in the straightener. While waiting for it to warm up, I went back to work on my makeup. Carefully swoopingy liquid eyeliner and applying mascara. I was wearing minimal makeup tonight, because Mike always preferred a more natural look. I smiled at my reflection and quickly straightened my thin blonde hair and jumped a bit at the sound of a horn honking from my driveway. "He's here!" I squealed and clapped my hands and Kelly gigged at my childish behavior. I went back into my bedroom to grab my bags for the hotel and set them by the front door.
