"All hail the king! All hail the king!" The crowd yelled as a figure walked onto the balcony, waving to his subjects, he gave a smile to them making them all cheer louder. This was the life, he thought, his subjects love him, he's adored by everyone. "Roman?" He bears a voice faintly "Roman?" He heard it again, but it was louder this time. "ROMAN!" Then everything started to fade

The young thirteen year old woke up to hear his father yelling his name.

"Get down here! We have to go to town!"

"Sorry dad! I'll be down in a few!" He yelled down to his father. He hopped out of his bed and ran over to the small closet with a few clothes in it. He put on a baggy shirt with patches and pants, along with his old shoes passed down from his father. He opened the hatch from where his room was and walked down the ladder to where his father was waiting for him. He closed the door behind him and ran over to his father giving him a quick hug, his father handed him an apple.

"Eat up, it's a long walk to the town, and we need to get some supplies"

"Yes father." He bit into the shiny red apple as they left their tiny home. It wasn't much, a kitchen, an attic where Roman lived, and his fathers room. They didn't have much but enough to live. A few years earlier Romans mother had passed away, but that didn't discourage him or his father though it made it harder for him to work and to take care of Roman, since he was only a very young child at the time, he couldn't leave him alone. Roman had no idea all the work his father put in for them, working in a coal mine wasn't good for his health but there was nothing else he could do. The two continued on the long path to the village square, his father telling him why they were going there.

"We need a few seeds so we can have food after the cold season. But other than that we can look around the town if you want?" He smiled to his father

"That sounds great Dad!" He said. They don't visit the town that often so getting the chance to see everything around makes it all worth the long trip. Eventually they get to the town, and visit the seed shop to get all the seeds they needed.

"Alright Roman, where else do you wanna go before we head home?" His father asked him. Roman thought for a minute and then decided on where to go. Roman wanted to go to a costume shop, sure it was strange, but Roman loved that place, it was where he could be the prince he always hoped to be one day. The shop wasn't busy, just a few people, a young girl maybe a year younger than Roman, two men trying on masks, and a boy probably the same age as Roman wearing a cloak. Roman and his father entered the shop, and the shopkeeper came out to greet them.

"Hello! Welcome to my little shop, try on things if you will, and maybe even buy something if it meets your fancy!" The man said in delight. Roman smiled at him and immediately went to the rack filled with fancy looking costumes, all fit for one of royalty. Roman found the perfect one for him, a white silk like shirt with gold epaulettes, and buttons that matched along with black pants and boots. He put the ensemble on and looked in the mirror, the costume shop owner smiled at him.

"Your almost a Prince...but your missing something." He pulled out a crown with fake red jewels in it. "A crown, your highness" Roman laughed when the costume owner put it on him. He looked at himself in the mirror

Maybe one day...I can be more... he thought to himself before taking the costume off. Soon Roman and his father left the store and went back to their home. The next day his father went to work as he usually does, and Roman stayed home to plant their new seeds. A few hours had passed, his father should have been home by now... Roman started to get worried, then a knock was heard at the door. Roman went to answer it and was greeted by the head of the royal guards, Sir Alex. He looked at Roman, just the tenseness in the air Roman could tell this wasn't a good visit.
