Time passed by in the camp, which as I thought about it, seemed strange. A place where time stands still and no one ages, but I could still count every single agonizingly boring second as it passed. And when I say agonizing I mean agonizing. I began to wonder if anything actually happened in Neverland, or if maybe the boys just sat around all day long and counted the seconds next to the delightful prisoner whom they had tied to a tree. I, also, wondered.
If I plant a tree in Neverland- where nothing is supposed to age- would it grow? Do plants still grow here? Cause I mean if not then resources are scarce cause I mean eventually the berries gotta runout. And what about like animals? If they don't have babies who grow up, then what do they eat?
I decided to not think about it because how Peter Pan managed to feed the people here was really not my problem, and if the supply ended then my job would be made immensely more easy. I did, however, begin to ask myself why had I decided to take down good ol' Petey at all.
I don't have a brother who went missing, nor did I know anyone personally who had lost someone. I don't really have a motive for his demise other than I want to end his reign of tyranny over these boys who don't understand how long forever is.
My sweet session for stream-of-consciousness thinking stopped abruptly at the confused and slightly astounded voice of Neverland's favorite leader exclaiming, "So, absolutely no motive? No personal comeuppance or reason for your invasion on my island?"
"Listening to my thoughts? Really, Pete? I must admit I'm surprised. You see, I thought we had agreed to play fair with each other," I scolded him with a mocking tone. "Honestly, I thought you were better than this, but really this is my fault. What did I expect from a worm like you?" I asked myself aloud. "Oh well, alas, my plans are ruined by the almighty Peter Pan. Woe is me." I explained dryly ending with a shrug before returning to play with my rope.
"I always play fair," he retorted strongly ignoring most of my speech.
I looked at him with my eyebrows raised, "Of course you do. That's what all cheaters say."
"Do not accuse me of cheating, you ignorant girl, just because you don't understand the rules," he spat venomously.
"Well, no one bothered to tell me. What do we do, instead? We tie the poor defenseless girl to a tree, and then go off and pout. Pete, I didn't really mean to start a game of tag or hide-and-seek with you, but whatever you're doing be my guest to explain it to me," I remarked.
Walking over to me slowly, Peter's sharp, green eyes cut into me shaking my confidence, but I knew that he I possessed the abilities to do anything he could do, I only need to hold myself back. "You infiltrated my island; you disrespect my authority; you won't last here; you are nothing but an foolish girl."
I rolled my eyes, "Good job, Petey, you got a few things right- nothing of importance but a few things. I did infiltrate the island; I am disregarding your 'authority', and I am a girl. However, I will last here, and I am anything but foolish. Now," I slid my hands out of the binds. "You want to play a game, Peter Pan? You think you can beat me? You don't even know my name, but by all means let's play!" And with those final, fighting words having left my mouth, my fist collided with his jaw knocking him backwards.
He looked at me with a twinkle in his eye as he raised an eyebrow. Suddenly, two lost boys grabbed my arms and dragged me back. I immediately began to yell and fight, but two boys trained by Pan would not go down easily, so I knew it would be better to let it happen. Once I was backed against the tree again, he walked over towards me taunting me to fight his minions. "Well, since you insist that we do so. The game has begun."
"Peter Pan, you know why I'm here. I'm here to end this."
He smirked, "Then we are here to watch you try and to fail." He started to walk away, but my pride could not let him have the last word, so I shouted.
"Hey, Panny, you still want to know what my name is?"
      He turned around looking intrigued.
      "Call me the Bounty Hunter."
      "Take her away!" He ordered.
The boys began to pull me again, but I planted my feet refusing to move, "What Peter? Can't handle the competition?"
"Get her out of my face!" He yelled.
"Why, Peter? Is my beautiful face too much to look at?" I mocked.
       "Lock her up!" He ordered.
I yanked my arm away, "I'll end you, Peter Pan. You and your immature dream of reigning over these boys," I pulled completely away from the lost boys that held my arms and marched myself over to Pan. Even though he towered much taller over me, I stood before him bravely in defiance. "Together: you and I will either destroy Neverland or save it by playing your game. The outcome is up to me; not you. Peter Pan, you do not scare me."
      "I should."
       "You wish."
"I am in control here!" He began to shout again.
I retorted sharply, "You only think so because all these little twats," I gestured to the boys. "Are too frightened to disagree."
"And you think?" He asked, "that somehow your stubborn- and not to mention stupid- disagreement and disobedience actually matter? Nothing matters here except what I decide."
I rolled my eyes, "Then, I will just had to change your mind, Peter Pan."
     "This is my island!"
      "This is my life!"
"I control that too," he smirked before pulling out a shining blade and ramming me against a tree holding the blade to my threat.
I flipped us around, "Only if I let you."
And with those final words having been said, I pulled away and walked back into the forest braver and more determined than before.
"Remember, Petes, you can call me the Bounty Hunter."
