"(Y/N)... I missed you so much," Jasper whispered, resting her head on your shoulder. "What you did for me, no one else could have done. No one has ever done it before. I doubt anyone ever will." She nuzzled your neck. "You really are incredible. Is it any surprise how I feel about you?" She held your face and looked you in the eyes. "I said I'd always love you. And I always will."

Your jaw trembled, trying to find the right words as you held her tight. But as you looked at her sweet smiling face, you were completely lost for words.

"It's okay, you don't have to say anything."

"You're back," you whispered. "It's really you. You're really back."

"Hey, don't be so modest. You're the whole reason I'm here at all."

"So do you remember everything?"

"I remember that you broke your promise," she growled.

"Wh-what do you mean? What have I done?"

Her mock-angry expression changed to a smirk.

"You said you'd marry me as soon as I was cured."

"Oh, you're right! So... do you still want to..?" She nodded, causing you to smile the biggest smile of your life. You pulled her closer. "Yes! Oh Jasper! Jasper, yes! You're the only one I've ever truly loved. You're my whole world."

"And you're mine. I'm sorry I was gone so long."

"Hey, it wasn't your fault."

"Yeah, except it kinda was. If I hadn't become so fusion-obsessed -"

"We never would have met," you interrupted. "Or rather, been reunited, I suppose."

"But even before that... you were still here, on Earth, for thousands of years, and I hadn't even planned to come back."

"Well, can't really hold that against you. You thought I was dead, which I was, on-and-off."

"How many times has that happened, anyway?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Uh, let's see, trying to do some mental maths here... I'm on my sixth life since Jaspilite. Speaking of which, do you know where Jaspilite was made?"

"No... she never wanted to talk about it. Some time after you were shattered, I asked around, but it's as if nobody knew."

"I was part of Pink Diamond's army, right? I mean, that's what I'd assumed."

"Yes."

"Pink Diamond didn't have any colonies besides Earth, did she?"

"No. (Y/N), where are you going with this?"

"Sorry, I know I'm kinda killing the mood. It's just a little question in my head that's been bugging me. Earth was Pink Diamond's only colony, and Jaspilite was one of Pink Diamond's gems. So how did Jaspilite come from another planet?"

"You probably got reassigned from another Diamond's forces. We needed all the help we could get here. Now come on, we have to watch that sunset!" She tossed you up in the air, stood up, caught you, and swung you onto her back. "Better hold on tight."

"Can do," you said with a smirk, wrapping yourself securely around her.

Jasper made her way carefully down the stairs and out the door, then took off running across roads and fields towards the beach. You shut your eyes and took in a deep breath, finally at peace. The warm summer air in your face, blowing through your hair, the warmth of Jasper's form held tight against you as she ran like a deer, the soft light of the setting sun... everything was right in the world. Eventually, reaching the beach, she gently set you down and sat in the sand beside you.
