My life couldn't get any worse right now. I have a chemistry test in an hour which I'm sure I'm going to fail and I didn't have time to finish my essay. I only have a paragraph left to write but that isn't the point. I should have gotten it done last night but I had to help my father fix somethings.
I walk into the school and head to my locker, I'm already later than usual and I'd have to have the luck of the Flash to make it to bio on time. Unlocking my locker I quickly grab my bio book and shut my locker, heading down the almost empty hallway to my first class of the day.
Walking into the classroom I slide into my seat as the bell rings alerting me and everyone else that class is now in session. Thank god I made it on time. As the teacher drones on about the subject, I start to doze off thinking about something else, other homework assignments.
A loud bang causes me to be pulled from my thoughts and look up at the front of the room. The teacher, Mr. Manor, had knocked some stuff off the board. After he picks it up he writes our assignment on the board, I get out my notebook and start the assignment.
Just as the bell rings I finished my bio assignment while others were still on the first couple of problems. After tearing out my assignment, putting my notebook in my messenger bag, I stand up and grab my bag, then pick up my bio book.
Before walking out of the classroom I head over to the basket and turn in my assignment. I then head back to my locker and put away my bio book and grab my chemistry book. I shut my locker again and head to the Chemistry room. I set my book down on the desk and take my seat. I couldn't help but have this feeling that things were going to start turning up.
When the bell rings our chemistry teacher, Mrs. Amble, walks over to the front of the classroom. She tells us, "There was going to be a test but since most of you are unprepared I'm going to give you a review and move the test to next Monday. This is the only time I'm allowing this so you must choose wisely, you may do the assignment with a partner."
She writes down the assignment on the board and everyone gets up from their seats and move about. I'm just planning on doing it by myself, usually, no one notices how good I am at chemistry. Or at least that's what thought.
I had already started writing the assignment ledger down when a boy comes up to me and asks, "I know you're a lot better at chemistry than I am and I was wondering if you wanted to work together?"
I stare at the boy in front of me, somewhat shocked at his question. No one has ever asked me that before. I realized I was staring a little longer than I should have.
So I reply, "Oh, uh, yeah. Sorry..."
He pulls a desk up, sets his book back down and sits down. He gets his notebook and his chemistry book. After he flips to the page he starts to down his heading. I take a look at the name he's writing down, Jaime Reyes. Hmm, that name sounds familiar. Oh yeah, his dad owns an auto garage. His dad fixed my Dad's truck.
"Alright so how do you want to do this?" Jaime asks as he finishes writing down the header, setting the pencil down next to his book.
"Um, I was thinking we could both work out the problem and then check to see what we both get." I reply fidgeting a little anxiously with my pencil.
"Okay, that sounds good." He replies picking up his pencil.
We start to work on the first problem and get it done in no time. After working a few more problems the bell rings. We start to pack up our stuff and Jaime says, "So...um..when would like to continue our assignment?"
