"So do you have everything packed for your trip?" My mom stands in the door way to my room with her arms crossed silently judging choice of clothes I packed for Japan."Yup I pretty much got all I wanted to bring packed up and ready to go!"
"Are you sure? Japan is gonna be so hot this time of year and you know you, those bugs are super attracted to you. You have that . . . scent."
"Yes mom I am well aware of my 'sweet scent'."
"I know you know but I've noticed you don't have any bug spray." She looked at me with those eyes that say you better listen to me I am your mother.
"Well I guess im off to the store to buy some bug spray." I quickly grab my wallet and my phone and head down the hall to the front door.
"Oh while you're at it can you pick up some soup packets for one since I'll be home alone for the next week I guess I'll just be eating soup missing my one and only daughter who I'll miss so much whiles she's in japan!" I swear she's so dramatic but I love her.
I echo back while I'm sitting next to the front door putting my sneakers on, "Haha oh my god mom it's only a week I'll be back sooner than you think!" I then jump up and head out the door. "I'll be back in 20!"
I hop in my cute blue beach cruiser with a metal basket on the handles. It used to be a plastic one to look like a straw basket but now that I'm 20 I felt the need to upgrade my bike into adulthood.
I bike down the street to the corner super market and park my bike on the side curb. I go inside and look for the aisle that has bug spray. The market is kinda empty with a couple employees and a hand full of customers. I quickly find what I need in a travel size and head to the snack food aisle. I pick up some cup noodles for my mom more than enough actually but she loves this stuff so it's ok. I head to the cash register, " I knew I should have got a basket" I start to stumble a little from carrying too much. Then*CRASH!!!*
"Oh shit! Sorry I didn't see you there! Ugh I'm such a clumsy person." Says this girl who ran into me causing all of our things to fall.
We both bend down to pick up our things. "Hey don't worry about it it's my fault for getting more than I can carry." She hands me a cup noodle and our eyes meet. She's this cute girl with medium brown hair parted in the middle one side tucked behind her ear. "Uhh . . . um . . . thanks."
I reached my hand out and slowly grabbed the cup noodles from her delicate manicured hand. I was so nervous I couldn't form a complete sentence. "Uhhh . . ." I force out. "Umm my uh my . . ."
She tucks her hair behind her ear again. "Well sorry again, bye." She rushes to the cashier paid and was gone.
"Stupid stupid stupid!" I face palm my forehead. "How could I be such a loser? Why didn't I get her name? Now I'll never see her again." Disappointed, I pay for my things and hop back on my bike and head home.
She was so beautiful. All I can think about is her tucking her hair behind her ear. How gentle and soft her hands look. Her lips saying "bye" makes me sad that I wont have any time to go out and find her before I leave for Japan.
I get Home and park my bike on the side of the garage. I grab my bag of groceries and head into the house. I open the door "mom I'm home!"
"My loving only daughter how I missed you so!" She spun into the hallway from the kitchen. Like I said, dramatic. "Did you get me soup?"
"Yes mom I did just like you requested." I take out my bug spray before I hand her the bag of seven cup noodles.
"Thanks honey I appreciate it." She grabs the bag and walks to the kitchen to place it on the counter.
"Mom I met this girl at the market. She bumped into me and all of our stuff fell so if there's some dents in the cups it's not my fault." I saw as I shrug my shoulders.
She pulls out a cup noodle with a noticeable dent on the top. "Did you swap her insurance information?" She thinks she's clever.
"No actually I didn't. I wish I did though." My moms lips curl into a devious smile.
"You like her huh?" She giggles she can be such a child. "She was cute wasn't she?" My mom walked over to me and gave me a hug.
"Mooom please Im not a child I don't have crushes." I love that she's so supportive of my sexuality. But still very embarrassing. "She was cute but I chickened our and she walked away. I don't even know if she's gay!" I cross my arms and pouted my bottom lip.
"Oh honey it's ok if it's meant to be she will come back." She hugged me and I hug her back. She's right. I guess it's ok if I never see her again and if I do see her again then it's meant to be.
