3. Bullies Never Prosper
"Phew," I said, sitting myself and my tray down at the table that held my best friend and boyfriend. I sat close to Liam, loving the warmth that radiated off him, my leg pressed firmly against his. "School's a drag isn't it?"
"Life's a drag," Tamara commented, before a bite of her pizza.
"Bih, you right," I said, grabbing a french fry to eat. I then leaned on Liam. "What about you, babe? Care to give your input on something else that's a drag?"
Liam pursed his lips, grabbing a fry from my plate.
"You have the same amount of fries as me," I scolded, slapping his bicep. He laughed at me, proceeding to eat the sad fry he took as prisoner.
"I know, but I just love the angry look you get when someone takes your food," he said. "You look so cute," he told me, puckering his lips at me.
I smooshed my hand against his lips. "Yeah? Well, I'm finna be adorable," I countered. I then went to ignore him, seeing as Tamara was fake gagging in front of us.
"Anyway," I began, grabbing another fry. "Tam, have you seen Harry? Think he got this lunch wave?"
She shrugged taking another bite of pizza. "I dunno," she said, her voice muffled. "I actually haven't seen him since first block. Maybe he does. Maybe we'll have fourth block together. Having him in my classes is great to start and end the day," she said with a laugh.
I laughed with her. "You right," I said.
Liam cleared his throat next to me, to which I have him a sheepish grin and chuckle. "Y'know I'm just kidding, babe. How could I ever want anyone other than you?" I said, mimicking his previously puckered lips. He gave me an eye roll, but pecked my lips anyway.
"Yeah, whatever," he said, gently pinching my side. I jumped at the contact, before glaring at him. He knew I was ticklish, and I hated when he did that.
"I will fight you right here in the middle of the cafeteria," I threatened him, my brown eyes narrowed into a glare.
He raised a thick brow at me. "Oh really? What makes you think you'd win?"
"The bigger they are the harder they fall, my dear Liam," I warned, looking at him cautiously. "Plus I have Mara on my side, right, Mara?"
She was ignoring us both, but she looked up when she heard her name. "What?"
"I said 'right, Mara?'," I repeated giving her a pointed look. We were best friends. You don't ask questions, you just go with it.
She furrowed her brows but nodded anyway, "Yes, sure. Whatever," she said with a laugh. "Oh look, there he is," she stated then, her finger pointed behind me.
I turned and saw Harry walking into the cafeteria, that long brown hair now pulled into a bun and that backpack sling over his shoulder in its lazy fashion. I smiled and raised my hand. "Hey Harry!"
His brows furrowed and his green eyes searched for whoever called his name. I was waving my hand like crazy, so when it saw it, his eyes locked when mine and a smile stretched onto his lips. He gave me a nod of acknowledgment and began walking in our direction
"Kels," Liam said nudging me. "I thought you were gonna stay away from him."
I raised a brow at him. "I don't remember saying that," I said, grabbing at my water. Liam sighed beside me, running a hand over his five o'clock shadow.
I saw Harry's figure out of the corner of my eye as he reached or table, sitting down beside Tamara.
"Hey guys, thanks," he said, running a hand through his hair. "Almost thought about not coming to lunch. Too many people."
