For now, I am alone...
"(Name)-chan? Are you alright? Call us as soon as you get this..." Gou's concerned voice rang throughout the empty and freezing house. The message was ignored, seeing as you had exited the once cozy home five minutes ago.
Two hours ago, Rin left for the hospital to check up on his recovering friend, Aiichiro, or "Ai" for short after a swimming incident yesterday. Thankfully it wasn't too serious and Ai would be allowed to leave soon.
Six minutes ago, you left for the hospital after a devastating call from your mother-in-law. Rin was on his way back from visiting Ai, and as it was 10 PM, an accident involving a recklessly drunk driver happened.
Blood cold and heart racing, you had rushed into your own car, despite the paranoia of getting in and getting into an accident like your husband just did. Panic had rushed through your guts, slamming you with anxiety and hysteria. Miraculously, you made it to the hospital without a scratch on your or your vehicle.
Breathing heavily and eyes wide with panic, you parked your car and wobbled your way as best as you could to the hospital. As soon as you walked in, every part of your fell numb as you recognized the familiar, grief stricken faces of family and friends.
Your dear friend Makoto was the first to notice you and he gently led you to a hospital seat near a crying Gou and her weeping mother. Even the optimistic, olive-eyed man was having trouble keeping his and his friends' spirits up.
Terror raced through your veins and mind and you couldn't move to ask them how everything was. Part of you didn't even want to know what was happening. If the usually cheerful and bubbly maroon haired friend of yours was sobbing gallons of crystal tears out, how could you be able to withstand what you were going to hear?
Mrs. Matsuoka tried to smile tiredly at you but it came out turning like a grimace. The only thing on your mind as she spoke to you was the word "no." No, no, no, no, no.
You didn't even realize the salty wave of tears rain down your cheeks. You had only occupied yourself by denying everything. Rin was the strongest man you knew, there was no way... right? However, even you knew that your lover was in fact, dead upon impact of the cars. If your own agony and muffled sobs weren't enough evidence, then your crying companions should confirm every fact.
Every face you knew seemed to be wailing, crying, miserable, and distressed. Seeing your sweet friends and family suffer from remorse was enough to make you break down even harder than you were before.
All you could think about was Rin. His velvety voice, his lively eyes, his lovely hair you used to always enjoy playing with, his safe arms, his never ending love and support...
Memories of him promising to never leave you alone, whether if it was during grade school or five nights ago, flooded through your head, leaving you to lament with everything you had. Never leave you alone, huh?
Rin, you had thought. You goddamned liar.
...I might always be alone.
