Yuna had always liked the rain.
She reached the home quite early today, since she didn't have a lot of schedules. Her promotions were over and so were her parties. She decided to rest for the day.
She sat on the couch and stared out the window. The soft pitter-patters extremely soothed her nerves and mind.
Settling comfortably, she focused on the droplets, letting her mind drift off to a sweet memory.
He is unforgettable.
And he was the reason why she held rain so dear to her. Because whatever nice she had experienced was with both him and rain.
She reminisced the first time they met.
She had been brisk-walking with an umbrella on the pavement when she'd heard a little groan nearby. She'd twirled around, only to find that the voice came from an alley that she passed. Reluctant, she had peeked into it, expecting to find an injured pet or something of the sort.
She had been shocked to find a boy sitting there, hugging his knees and shivering in the cold, his head low.
Yuna's heart had come out at him. Being a softhearted person, her insides completely crumbled to see a boy her age in so much misery. She wanted to help him.
But no matter how much ever she was sympathetic, she was also just a child. Ever so hesitant, she wondered if she should lend a helping hand or not. The fact that she was empathetic didn't mean she could openly talk to every needful stranger out there.
Just when she was weighing her choices, the boy sniffled and stirred in his place, his shivering continuous. Noticing the movement, Yuna stepped back, splashing her shoe in the puddle behind her.
Yuna gained the boy's attention, for he glanced up at her. His eyes were feline, and as though they showed apparent hardness, Yuna looked through and saw sadness.
Now she could never go back. Ignoring him was not an option now. Reluctantly, she spoke in a voice just louder than the pattering rain.
"W-would you... like to come with me?" Her voice was low. "I... I have an umbrella..."
The boy stared at her for a while. His lips parted, and as droplets of water cascaded from his hair down his face, he sniffled slightly again. Breathing a little heavily, he nodded slowly.
She smiled at him as a response. It was natural, she didn't have to move her muscles.
He got up from the muddy ground and hobbled to her.
"Are you okay?" she asked clearer now. Her hesitance was fading away.
He nodded once again. Yuna lifted her umbrella higher so that he could come under it.
They started walking.
"What's your name?" he asked, speaking for the first time.
"Yuna. You?"
He looked down at her and nodded lightly. Wiping his cheek, he answered in a low voice.
"Yoongi."
