Chapter 1

Courtney's POV

I don't understand... We moved to Alabama and all of a sudden my husband can't get a job and I barley got my job... What's going on?
"Jay calm down sweetie it's okay school isn't that bad" I said to my 4 year old daughter Jaylena
"No school bad I stay" she said
"Baby school is fun you get to draw and take naps and meet new people" I tried to persuade her
"Ooooohhh draw" she said excitedly
"Mhm you get to draw lots of things now come on put your shoes on" she finally puts her shoes on and I put her in the car and tell my other two kids I'm leaving
"Reg and Amy I'm taking Jay to school be ready when I get back if you want a ride if not text me before leaving the house i love y'all"
"Will do mommacakes and we love you more" my son Reggie and daughter Amy said at the same time.
I left out the house and locked the door,then headed to the car.

10 minutes later

"Bye baby mommy loves you have a fantastic day" I yelled at my daughter
"Wuv you too mommy" she yelled back. I waved then sighed and headed to work

Reggie's POV

"Amy come on get dressed" I said to my annoying little sister
"Reg please leave me alone I'm getting dressed and I'll be out in 10" she said
I left then said hey to my dad who was staring at the wall
"Hey Pops everything okay?" I asked
"Yeah son it is I just got a call saying I got the job at that one factory so I start later on today probably 5" he said
"Well that's good right dad?" I asked
"Yeah it is son, get ready for school I'll see you later love you"
"I love you too pop" I left out of the room and my sister Amy came out, then we left for school...

Amy POV

Ugh I hate school and I hate people. People always judge me because I'm smart, and to my luck we are doing to an all white school for a better education. This'll be interesting
"Hi my name is Amy Hendrix and this is my brother Reggie Hendrix and we are looking to get our schedules" I smiled at the front desk lady
"Um are you sure you have the right school hun this is an all white school?" she asked which made Reggie tense up
"Excuse me ma'am we have the right school we are just black so can you give us our schedules and let it be that!" Reggie shouted
"REGGIE!" I yelled at him
"I'm sorry here are you guy's schedule have a nice day" she said softly,then we headed to class
"Reggie what the hell we are in a new school dufus and to top it off a white school, people 'round here don't like people like us and you should know this, please be on your best behavior" I said
"Alright Amy I'll see you later on I love you"
"I love you too Reg"
We said our goodbyes and went our separate ways

Richie's POV

After the kids left and I was home alone I just stayed where I was and I was thinking 'is it because we are black that I can't get a job?' and I realized I was right. I sighed and went downstairs to eat,then I went to take a nap
