So all weekend I laid in bed, trying my best to not go on Snapchat or look my parents in the face. I looked for help on my Tumblr but got nothing. Fredrick tried to help me but he only got a middle finger from under my blanket. Sunday night when I finally got caught by my dad on my way to the bathroom.
"What's going on with you Justin? You've hidden from us all weekend. Are... Are you ok?" My dad asked.
"I'm fine!" I snapped at him. He put his hand on the shoulder and held it tight, I couldn't move.
"You're not fine, Justin. I haven't seen those eyes in years." My dad said. "This is how you looked when I and your mother picked you up from that hell of a house. The dead look you shouldn't have."
"I'm fine!" I yelled.
My dad picked me up in a hug and brought me down to the living room couch. My mother was sitting there already.
"What's going on?" My dad asked. "Tell me, Justin, please."
I looked at my mother. The woman that always felt so strong to me looked to be tearing up.
"Does this have to do with the child we're going to get?" Asked my dad.
"I was outed at school! If you didn't know already I'm gay! I tried to not talk much about it but people figured out." I said.
My parents knew silent. It was the same face they made when Fredrick admitted he was no longer a virgin. It was a mix of concern and humor.
"You're Actually gay?" you mother asked, sounding a bit relieved.
"Yes!" I blurted out shaking a bit.
This is the thing. I never had an actual problem saying I'm gay to anyone online or even to the people I've been hanging out with before. It was like making a joke or saying I was Native American. But this... the thing I've been hyping up for years now, was almost like lifting a weight that is one pound over what you can naturally lift. It was hard and took everything out of you. All of this to one word. "Yes yes yes yes yes yes. YES!" I said it and dropped the wight. Then suddenly, the floodgates opened. I began crying.
My mother looked a little shocked at this, shocked but not surprised.
"Justin honey, its ok." My mother said. "Do the others kids know?"
"I've told Fredrick already and Lillary listened in to a conversation in my room," I said.
"So you only had us left." My dad asked.
"Did you guys already know?" I asked.
"I've heard rumors at school but I never thought too much of them." My dad said.
My mother looked hesitant. "Well," she started. "You always seemed like you weren't too into women."
"Really?" I asked.
"But I also didn't think too much of it." My mother finished. "You know, every time we take in a child we get asked the same thing. They ask us if the kid ends up falling under the LGBT community how would we react. We gave them the same thing each time."
"We don't see why that would affect our view of the kid. We would just be happy if our kid is happy." My dad said. "Then I pull my I'm a Bisexual card and tell them that so is her brother."
I looked up to my dad. "Are... Are you?" I asked.
"As true as the sun is hot." My dad said.
"Neat."
Both my parents lock me in a hug. "A gay and an Ace. We're collecting a whole set." My dad said.
My Mother hit him. "Fred!"
"What, it's true." He said.
"Watch, Lillary will be bisexual or something," I said.
"And we'll make it work." My Mother said as she let go of the hug lock.
"So much news in one day." My dad said in a gasp as he let go. "I'll help you with the kids at school if you want."
"Please don't. I don't want to hide behind my dad." I said.
My Dad held shoulder. "It's ok. Just stay safe and keep us up with the news."
"We don't need you acting like this again. Not in front of the new one we're getting." My mother said.
"New one?" I asked.
My parents look at each other and grin. "Go get your siblings. We have news."An eight-year-old small Native American boy. He is old enough to have had been up to second grade. But he hasn't been to one year of it. He also has fetal alcohol syndrome. So this will be fun. He'll be with us by the end of the week as a new brother. But until then I have something more important.
The next day I wake up with a fresh new idea. I'm out now, why not dress like it. I look up "gay fashion" and try to mimic it. It ends with me dropping my sweatshirt and combing my hair in the end.
Fredrick looked at me. "You could get an actual haircut you know." He said to me.
"And you could just let me try this," I said. "I have a plan."
"Stop with this stupid unpredictable shit for once." Fredrick groaned. "You should let me help you for once. I have powerful friends."
"I'll ask Mother to take me to get a haircut tonight. Until then, leave me to my own devices." I pleaded.
"I guess," Fredrick said, laughing to himself. "You know, we look alike but I can't seem to imagine you with short hair."
We get to school like every other day. It's early and hardly anyone is here.
"Want me to stick with you today? How popular can the news of a new gay get?" Fredrick asked.
"Mitchel told me about the time he came out. People wouldn't stop asking him about it. He still gets picked on." I said. "But I don't want you to help me."
"What's your plan then!" Fredrick asked.
I looked at him and shrugged. "It'll be more unpredictable this way."
Fredrick hesitantly looked at me. "I'm going to stay with you today. I don't trust you being alone." He said.
I sigh. "What would I ever do without you, bro?"
"Die probably." He said back.
"Shows how much faith you have in me," I said as Fredrick and I walked down the hallways.
"You know what," Fredrick said. "I have faith in you. It's just that I don't have faith in this school. The people I hang around are kinda dicks. They asked me if I'm also queer. I don't need you answering questions like that."
"Fair point. I'd probably call them a thot or even kill them!" I said dramatically.
"Stop that," Fredrick said.
We walked down to the hallway with the lockers for our grade. Annie was there sitting by the wall.
"What, no using me as some source of entertainment?" I asked her.
"So you are talking with us," Annie said. "You didn't check Snapchat at all this weekend."
"My phone died. I would've invited you to its funeral but I didn't have your number." I said sarcastically.
"You shitty bitch," Annie said.
"You stupid ass whore." I shot back.
Annie got up. Fredrick looked ready to throw hands.
"Is this how you guys talk?" He asked.
Annie grinned. "You always seemed like a stuck up. I can see you are."
"Yeah? Well, at least I'm not constantly in and out of the ISS." Fredrick said. "
I stepped between the two. "Can you two please stop!" I said. "Fredrick, stop."
"But she's being a bitch!" Fredrick yelled.
"But she is normally a bitch! That's just something you need to get used to." I said.
"Yeah, if anything I'm the better of the group," Annie said.
"No," I said. "No, you're not. Not at all."
"Then who is?" Annie asked.
"Ned," I said with a grin.
Annie began laughing. As did another kid who hasn't been here for a few days. I recognize him as Jackson. He's one of the few people of color I know of that isn't Native in this school. Other than that I think he hangs around with Peter and he wears a leather jacket.
"Ned's the most unbearable person I can think up. I'd say Trey is more bearable than the likes of Edward." Jackson said.
"Now you're also hanging out with him? I don't think I like this group you found." Fredrick said.
"To be honest I didn't know this one was part of the group," I said.
"You being a member of this guild is quite a shock to myself," Jackson said. "I've only heard tails of you."
"He's nothing special," Julie said as she came up. "Why's the other twin here?"
"I'm working as his self-control today. I don't need someone saying something to Justin and having him kill the kid." Explained Fredrick.
Peter snuck up next, he hid behind Fredrick. "It'll be me, won't it? His super knowledge of the woods will be my downfall."
The next wave of kids came through. With them being David. He stormed his way to Justin, pushing both Fredrick and Peter out of the way. He picked me up and held me against the wall.
"You had another one you little shit! Die!" He yelled, holding up his fist to me. The crowd of people he gathered all muttering within themselves.
"You're also gay?" One brave soul asked from the crowd of people.
David realized what was going on. He outed himself in this attempt to end my career.
